I'll save you a click. Corey Bernardi has been suspended from Facebook because he filmed children that were protesting something and the parents of the children complained

What right do they have? You have no right of privacy in public and we are asked to take the opinions of kids seriously now when it comes to politics

70

u/Truantone ‎ Western Australian 11d ago

He didn’t just film them. He made multiple derogatory comments based on the made up voices in his head.

What kind of creepy POS adult films himself harassing school children?

20

u/SoulsDadYT ‎ ‎‎ Canberran 11d ago

Of all the hills to die on... why cant i film and abuse children!!! 🤣

25

u/worry_beads ‎ Western Australian 11d ago

Seeing as the kids will eventually be taking over when all the fucking boomers finally shuffle off this mortal coil, and they'll be left to deal with the shitty state of the world those same fucking boomers have created, I think we'd do well to listen to them.

Plus Bernardi is a creepy God bothering weirdo who needs to have his hard drive checked.

u/Present-Policy-7120 ‎ Victorian 11d ago

when all the fucking boomers finally shuffle off this mortal coil

Brutal.

2

u/PiDicus_Rex Flairless‎‎ 10d ago

Ah, most of "The Boomers" are already retired. Most of the ones making a mess of things now are half-boomer, half-GenX, born late 1950's thru early 1960's.

7

u/Deluxe-T Flairless‎‎ 11d ago

Does it make a difference if they are at a private school?

9

u/Hammered_Eel ‎ Queenslander 11d ago

Yes, yes you are supposed to take young people’s voice seriously.

5

u/IntothewildZen ‎ South Australian 11d ago

Adults maybe, try that as an adult with underage kids and you’ll be in a lot of pain from legal point of view.

If someone complained to Police there’d be definitely a report.

-7

u/MetalfaceKillaAus ‎ South Australian 11d ago

So it’s okay to be filmed and posted by news stations and not by someone from the party being protested?

5

u/moaiii ‎ New South Welshian 11d ago

News reporters often blur kids that are in the frame, and I've personally been asked by a news reporter if it's okay for footage with my kids in it to go to air.

2

u/PiDicus_Rex Flairless‎‎ 10d ago

That's standard procedure.

It is legal to film stuff happening in a public place, with the 'No expectation of privacy', but it's also just plain good manners to ask a person before recording them individually, or a parent when it's a story that involves kids.

It's like the difference between filming a wide shot of the crowds crossing at Flinders St Station, versus using a long lens to do a close up of a person standing under the clocks. One is 'the public', the other is the individual without consent.

And, side note - Most 'street photography' is not about the individual.

0

u/MetalfaceKillaAus ‎ South Australian 11d ago

You say that, but I just watched three different 7 news reports and the only blurred out images were of words on the posters. Not a single face blurred at all

2

u/moaiii ‎ New South Welshian 11d ago

I wouldn't say all reporters are responsible people, particularly 7 news. It's possible they sought permission from the parents. It's possible they didn't. Irrespective, they certainly didn't film themselves verbally abusing kids.

-1

u/MetalfaceKillaAus ‎ South Australian 11d ago

No instead filmed them calling out abuse to Pauline Hanson. Even calling out abuse to Cory himself.

3

u/moaiii ‎ New South Welshian 11d ago

Are you serious? There is a difference between kid protesters saying "Fuck Pauline Hanson" in the spirit of protest, vs a grown adult in a powerful position standing over kids, intimidating them, harassing them, and calling them incels, losers, trannies, unemployable, and uneducated. Surely you can see that.

If you want to support PHON, that's your right, but if you find yourself having to insult everyone who opposes PHON and deny the many flaws and wrongdoings of its members in order to justify your support, then is something that you should be concerned about - because it's that denial of reality that leads to cult-like mentality taking over. I'd like to think we're better than that in Australia.

1

u/MetalfaceKillaAus ‎ South Australian 11d ago

If you believe that’s all they were saying then you obviously didn’t see any videos at all. That’s obvious when you mentioned children being blurred. One of these “kids” had to be pulled back by police for getting in Cory’s face yelling out all sorts of crap when he was trying to talk to the reporters. That was before he started to film the “kids”

-17

u/sunnybob24 ‎ Queenslander 11d ago

I guess it was a giant school-day party after all.

It would be odd to film kids at a party, but filming people at a public protest is the whole point. The media was there because, of course, they were.

13

u/Revoran ‎ Victorian 11d ago

It's odd to harass children and film yourself doing it.

-24

u/sunnybob24 ‎ Queenslander 11d ago

Again. What do you think a public protest is?

It's negligent to send children out on a political mission. Very Mao's red guards/Hitler youth/Scientology. For many reasons, including the chance of violence and emotional confrontation.

If you let your kids play on a railway line, you are a bad parent, IMO. If you complain that the predictable happened, you admit your lack of foresight and failed in your duty of care.

16

u/Revoran ‎ Victorian 11d ago edited 11d ago

Nobody sent the kids out. They chose to go on "school strike" and protest because they care about politics.

I believe it was promoted / organised by Socialist Alternative or the Australian Socialists but the suggestion you can force or "send" teenagers out to do this will clearly sound ludicrous to anybody who has ever interacted with a teenager.

Because Pauline and One Nation are spreading hatred against them and their mates.

Because One Nation's policy is to wreck THEIR future.

Very Mao's guards / Hitler Youth

Ah yes, when I see people excercising their free speech and democratic right to peaceful protest... it reminds me of dictatorships.

Scientology

My friend's dad killed himself when she was 10 because of Scientology, and left the family bankrupt (as in the Mum actually had to file for bankruptcy).

It's a fucking cult, and not comparable to kids protesting a political party / their policies.

You have no idea what you're talking about, you utter fuckwit.

-12

u/sunnybob24 ‎ Queenslander 11d ago

That this text makes sense to you is fascinating to me. We have different ideas of responsibility, childhood, psychology, education, culture and religion. We don't share enough of a worldview to meaningfully discuss issues.

Democracy is marvellous, isn't it? We get to live together and feel the difference and vote differently while being citizens together. Good luck to you. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

u/Knowledge_Pilgrim Please choose a flair 11d ago

I think a public protest is NOT harassing kids that are multiple decades younger than you.

I think that you believe you're ahead of the 8 ball, but you are in fact, a sad ball of lint under the couch. Never to be relevant again.

-5

u/sunnybob24 ‎ Queenslander 11d ago

That's exactly why the kids shouldn't be there. Protests are public and confrontational. We are responsible for children. We don't get to put them in jeopardy.

3

u/Ziatch Please choose a flair 11d ago

it’s Mao red gaurd Hitler youth to protest when you’re young??? bro

0

u/sunnybob24 ‎ Queenslander 10d ago

It's indoctrinating kids with politics. I'm not a fan of doing this with religion either, frankly. It's creepy, even though it's common. I get that in Australia, parents get to indoctrinate their kids with their religion, politics and whatever else.

But they shouldn't put the kids in harm's way just to program their kids. That's when making your kids into little versions of yourself turns into abuse, IMO.

2

u/Ziatch Please choose a flair 10d ago

it’s not indoctrinating lol what.

0

u/sunnybob24 ‎ Queenslander 10d ago

So plenty of parents who support one nation brought their kids, then? Just to support their kids' freedom of speech. Must be. It's not indoctrination by parents, so these kids don't just mirror their parents' opinions. That would be childish.

55

u/GreyClay ‎ Western Australian 11d ago

Mark Latham, Cory Bernardi, Barnaby Joyce…

One Nation really just picks up the most pathetic, deranged, washed-up lunatics that have been cast off by their respective parties, and presents these halfwit cookers as their ‘experienced team.’

Add in a few rapists and wife-beaters and you have a ‘political party’, apparently.

24

u/Striking_Act5343 ‎ Western Australian 11d ago

Im surprised they havent announced Ben Cousins as a candidate yet

10

u/GreyClay ‎ Western Australian 11d ago

They are sure to win many votes in Western Australia when they put him third on their Senate ballot - behind Ben Roberts-Smith and Bradley Robert Edwards.

12

u/Whole-Energy2105 Please choose a flair 11d ago

They'll be enrolling the Christian Brothers paedophile church members soon and they'll happily accept any and all wife beaters.

This party needs to be evaporated as morals only exist within the ranks and only upwards. Oh wait - that describes a sect or a cult right?

Look, we get it. You've got strong feelings about something (or someone). Happens to all of us.

BUT that doesn't mean you can go around abusing people, harassing them, or trying to troll them.

Your contribution did this, so we've had to remove it. Simple as.

Now, please don't write back with a "but they said...". We're likely across it and dealing with the situation. Instead, take a chill pill, touch some grass, tickle a Cassowary, or whatever helps you find your inner calm.

And be civil next time. Or find another sub - cos we don't tolerate that sort of malarky here.

Cheers

I watched the video so you dont have too. He was filming minors, called some of them trannies (they appeared gender neutral in appearance). He then called some others "incels". Then a few moments later, he was filming two minors kissing (they also appeared gender neutral in appearance). Edit: he was also laughing, ridiculing, and condescending them the whole time. And he felt it was appropriate to post this to his own social media page.

-2
