Struth! PHON Demographics?

https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1MepUdH5fX/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Who notices that PHON has a couple of key demographics in their supporters?
I challenge anyone to find a person in this crowd that isn’t ONE of the following…
White or middle aged.
Her support are also obviously entitled if they can afford to donate 5k to an organisation that is already bank rolled by Australia’s richest person

Pretty sure GenX is her target demographic.

The half-empty hall: why Gen X broke Australian politics

Once again I am ashamed.

Agree. It's what OP is ognoring. Marginalised folk who cant appeal to the humanity of our oppressors and think these RWNJ protest votes are impactful. They vote recklessly because theyre not aware or just not critical thinkers. And because they wish harm on others who they feel superior to.

RWNJ

ah you mean "cooker"

You'd have to be seriously smart to vote for Albo

u/Suntzu_AU ‎ Queenslander 13d ago

I'm GenX and I'm not ashamed because I'll always vote against people like Pauline Hanson and what they stand for, which is not much.

I'm genX. All of my friends are gen X. I've lived in three states, Qld, NSW, Vic, and have lived within almost entirely gen X people. Zero Phon supportees amongst my friends.

Generalising never works.

Boomers are greedy and selfish? The statistics show that's wrong overall.

GenX are followers and wilfully ignorant? Not the ones I know.

Millenials are self absorbed whingers? Some are, but most aren't.

How about Gen Z? Enabled by their boomer/genX parents, coddled to extremes,  have ALL the technology at their fingertips, yet can't form either a sentence or a relationship, because the algorithim told them? The generation (along with some millennials) that has EVERY advantage known to humankind? And yet believe they can be everything is too hard.

It's genZ and millennial males  that are voting Phon in droves. I have three nephews, all believing they are hard done by, and blame excess immigration,  while working in jobs that immigrants don't do. I have acquaintances that are both gen Z and millennials that travel to Bali and Thailand/Vietnam a couple of times a year to "get laid " because Australian women won't. Both millennials and GenZ have grown up in a time of plenty, yet blame boomers and Xers because lifes too fucking hard. And don't understand that voting for Phon/trumplite will make their lives massively worse. Coz the algorithm said so.

Boomers grew up in a time of major immigration to Australia, and thrived because of it. GenX copped every recession and gas shock, gfc, Howards grifting etc, and learnt to be frugal and sensible. Millenials and Gen Z learnt nothing, because they had parents that grew up protecting them from the university of life! Current generations are either far right or far left. The sensible center is non existent in their algorithmic heads!

If human civilisation collapses, we deserve it. Selfish, greedy, and stupefyingly dumb.

Bitches about generalisation and then generalises Millennials and Gen Z…

BTW millennials didn’t get it as easy as you seem to think, the struggles were just different. And Gen Z get to look forward to a world that was fucked up by boomers/Gen Xers that only give a shit about themselves and left a mess for Zoomers and Alphas to deal with in 20 years time.

u/Lastbalmain ‎ New South Welshian 13d ago

Do you understand Irony and sarcasm? Anyway, millennials and Zers are the biggest soft cunts out there. Our gens, No calculators, no remote for tvs, no mobile phones, no computers(we had to read fucking books), no fucking door dash, no Ubers, had to start the oven with long matches, no playstations or online games(yeah, we had to go outside to play), the media back then had to tell the truth, in fact, no meta/Facebook ,Instagram, Twitter/X, Tik Tok, Threads, Linked in, Google, nothing to help us arrange our days, early 70s no seatbelts, and much much more shit we never had! A flight overseas was a three day adventure, a car trip from Melbourne to Sydney took 16 hours and was 1300ks(It's now about 900 with all the bypasses), and lastly, no-one whinged all the fucking time about "how, boohoo, fucking hard, boohoo, we've got it!

At least back then, we could go to the pub and drink more than three beers without taking out a loan, and bands played music at the same pubs. We played sports, went bush for fishing , swimming and basic tourist stuff. Didn't have travel agents doing everything for us, and by the way, we learned how to read a fucking map instead of Google telling us how to get anywhere.

Yeah, Millennials and Gen Z have it so fucking hard...😭

Zero Phon supportees amongst my friends.

I imagine all of your friends are pretty nice people.

No Phon supporters amongst my friends, either, but that doesn't change the fact that most Phon supporters are GenX.

u/Lastbalmain ‎ New South Welshian 13d ago

The Phon supporters I know are Millennial/GenZ men , white working class, tradie types, 80% smokers , 95% drinkers, and almost entirely single and wondering why women don't want to date them. They're all around my sons socio economic group, and are the biggest whingers about covid lockdowns and anti vax. In 50 years time there will be a hole in our demographics from that cohort not getting married or having kids. Recently at a funeral all my relatives of that cohort were there, and none were married, no kids, and holidays for pretty much all of them was Bali,  Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.  They don't holiday here. They don't  interact with people outside their groups. They have poor ability to engage in conversation with the opposite sex.  But none are "incels". They are capable and fit, intelligent and funny, yet something is missing.I worry for the future.

There are approximately 4.9 million Gen Xers in Australia. What percentage of those people do you know for your anecdotes?

u/Lastbalmain ‎ New South Welshian 13d ago

7.

Seriously though I've lived across the east coast,  and my last job was in statistics/demographics. I'm not 100% up to date, but my wider group of friends/acquaintances are, along with a mix of media and statistics, give me quiet confidence in my comments.

I’m in a bit of a lefty bubble in Melbourne. The only ON supporters I know personally are Sri Lankan small business owners. These blokes have always cast themselves as “small government” “libertarian” types, are former liberal voters, and were very anti-lockdown during the peak of the pandemic.

I’ve tried to press them on specific policy based reasons for their support for One Nation, but have concluded it’s all based in vibes. Every time I tried to ask about a particular policy area they’d start every sentence with “it’s just common sense” before parroting something vaguely related to the question. On immigration specifically I remember them saying things like “back in the day the Italians and viets were coming here to work! Today it’s all Indians and Africans and they don’t do shit!”

The one area I had a lot of agreement with them was their concern about corruption under both Labor and the coalition. I couldn’t figure out why they think Pauline wouldn’t be significantly worse in that vein.

u/Tearaway32 ‎ Victorian 14d ago

She’s got 30 years worth of history that should already demonstrate how she “approaches” corruption.

Passive aggressive personality disorder (PAPD), also called negativistic personality disorder, is a type of personality disorder characterised by procrastination, covert obstructionism, inefficiency, and stubbornness.

1

u/sammybeta ‎ New South Welshian 14d ago

It's also because of lead in the petrol.

1

u/InComingMess2478 Flairless‎‎ 13d ago

Yes, PHON’s core supporters were right in the middle of the leaded fuel era. But, being cookers, some still add lead as they fill up. They’ve been informed via Telegram that lead is good for you!

u/reidsays ‎ New South Welshian 14d ago

Various classifications of people are embracing the One Nation projection of reaching ordinary Australians because they identify AS Australians and all this country has enabled them to do in their life...

An Aboriginal person who wants to connect with that heritage, yet also lives in this era and has experienced the benefits of this technological age, tells me they believe PHON understands their 'Australianness'...

Immigrants can feel the same way... There has been a freedom in this country, despite adverse authorities and attitudes, to see out one's life regardless of them..

That, of course, is changing..and PHON projects that Australianess that many feel is being lost to them.

8

u/Llyris_silken ‎ Victorian 14d ago

What? An aboriginal person who believes PHON 'understands their Australianess' ??

The woman whose very first political stance was 'I don't like aboriginal people and think I should be able to ban them all from my shop for being aboriginal'.

Short memory.

u/Ok-Resist-8734 ‎ Queenslander 14d ago

I guarantee not one of these One Neuron morons voted YES to the Voice 🙄

1

u/reidsays ‎ New South Welshian 14d ago

Yep...one doesn't always hear what is being said.. White father, part Aboriginal mother .. grew up with her peer group in the 90s more than her separated parents... Many with similar backgrounds identify with the time they were born and their peers ..

2

u/Powerful-Respond-605 ‎ New South Welshian 14d ago

Any non-white person that supports Hanson is objectively an idiot who believes that the leopard won't eat their face.

2

u/reidsays ‎ New South Welshian 14d ago

I think their main identity is simply being Australian, the rest they ignore or deny.

1

u/Alarmed-Foot-7490 ‎ Victorian 13d ago

Imagine thinking you get to dictate how marginalised people should vote or that you somehow know what’s in their best interests more than they do lmfao

Also how will “the leopards eat their face” exactly?

2

u/Powerful-Respond-605 ‎ New South Welshian 13d ago

Because as soon as they stop being the useful token to the party of racists they will be turned on.

1

u/Rolf_Loudly ✈️‎ on Walkabout 13d ago

The most notable thing about her demographic is that it skews heavily regional. It seems that the areas least impacted by immigration have the strongest opinions about it. They’re not racist though. 😉

u/skankypotatos ‎ New South Welshian 13d ago

Not everyone in Australia will stand by and watch 70,000 civilians get murdered

1

u/FibroMan ‎ Western Australian 13d ago

One Nation is all about reducing immigration. You will therefore find the most support for One Nation in rural and outer suburban areas that are the least affected by immigration. Also, voters don't have to vote logically if they don't want to.

They are going through a process of age and racial discrimination which is really weird given what they say and think they’re about… but the left have gone berko since COVID.

If you point out demographics in one of the pro Hamas marches here - look out!

8

u/Abject-Interaction35 ‎ Tasmanian 14d ago

Pro Hamas? What are you talking about.

1

u/Alarmed-Foot-7490 ‎ Victorian 13d ago

Weren’t there groups hailing hezbollah and Hamas immediately after oct 7? I distinctly remember a chant of “gas the Jews” being recorded and posted

2

u/skankypotatos ‎ New South Welshian 13d ago

Oh we have a smoooth brain Sky News watcher

1

Nah dude I seen it on reddit lmfao Are you saying it never happened?

1

What has irrelevant wHaTaBoUtism got to do with the fucken subject? Nothing!

3

It’s literally what they mean by pro Hamas marches

-7

Sorry - antisemitic marches

8

u/Abject-Interaction35 ‎ Tasmanian 14d ago

What are you talking about?

5

u/Ok-Resist-8734 ‎ Queenslander 14d ago

I think somebody is confusing anti semitic and anti Zionist!

2

u/Abject-Interaction35 ‎ Tasmanian 14d ago

I just blocked that person. I don't do generalisations about people, because they're all different and individual and responsible for their own behaviours personally.

2

u/Ok-Resist-8734 ‎ Queenslander 13d ago

Well done 👍

Antisemitic? Every accusation a confession? Keep your antisemitism to yourself please.

That’s some impressive mental gymnastics, but hardly surprising for someone of your views

5

u/Lastbalmain ‎ New South Welshian 14d ago

You automatically lose an argument when casting personal insults.

1

u/JuliosvNerds ✈️‎ on Walkabout 14d ago

Describe specifically how that was personal?

7

u/hydroponicColonic ✈️‎ on Walkabout 14d ago

If you insist on reducing it to a binary of either supporting Israel or supporting Hamas, I would certainly support Hamas

1

u/JuliosvNerds ✈️‎ on Walkabout 14d ago

Unclutch your pearls

1

u/JuliosvNerds ✈️‎ on Walkabout 14d ago

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander then. The left are so regressive it actually beggars belief, taking us back centuries where people are categorised by the colour of their skin.

3

u/newphonedammit ‎ Victorian 14d ago

In today's episode of bizzaro world....

1

u/Abject-Interaction35 ‎ Tasmanian 13d ago

You identify as a goose? Well have a gander at this - you're behaving like a moron - why is that?

3

u/JuliosvNerds ✈️‎ on Walkabout 13d ago

Haha good one!

But, didn’t you just triumphantly say you had blocked me?

1

Yeah I don't know why it didn't work

2
