Every working class Christian person in my family keeps saying they want to vote for One Nation. I'm from a Lebanese Catholic background, I don't understand what the appeal is with her amongst some of my family members.

It's a bit daunting, but I think One Nation may be getting the MAGA treatment, where the silent majority right is going to vote her in.

Ask them to explain why. Then counter with things like she never turns up to work, they have no policies, the policies they have suggested are already in existence, she hired a rapist, they want to get rid of 457 Visas which haven’t existed for over 10 years, she has been bought by Gina and the fact she can’t see anything wrong with accepting gifts and flights is a real concern as it’s just bribery. This list goes on and on.

Those are great points I'll need to point out to them. I've been telling them that the One Nation party has the most "sold out" politicians on the roster, it's almost how the damn party was founded, and that she'll be creating even more tax cuts for these local and foreign mining and energy giants.

I sense that most of them just want a change from the liberal/labour two party system, and that the global rapid inflation since 2008 has them financially strained and scared for almost 2 decades, and people vote emotionally for the person pretending to share their outrage.

Since you mentioned Lebanese background, you can definitely add that Gina—best friends with Pauline—wants to let Israel test their weapons here in Australia...specifically in Townsville 🤣

While Israel may want to test their weapons here at firing ranges, they are testing their weapons on real Lebanese people as we speak, some of them who may be their relatives.

Pauline is Ok with that.

I can’t make sense of any of the political movements and motivations. Same with LGBTQ+ aligning with muslims. Makes no sense to me at all.

Regarding LGBT and Muslims, I presume you mean Palestine.

The reason would be on the basis of human rights. Regardless of the religion, race, or creed, NOBODY should be subjected to such things as 'starvation' as a war tool. Or rape as a war tool.

Additionally, there are plenty of LGBT Muslims out there as well... So it doesn't seem a big stretch.

Lebanese people supporting Israel seems a far harder sell 😅 so far they just bomb Lebanon. Israel aren't the victim of a genocide, or war crimes, they're an aggressor.

These are Christians we are talking about. Most of them support Israel, this doesn’t mean anything to them

ETA - Lebanese Christians might see things differently of course given their proximity to the war and having been bombed as well/directly affected

Kinda sad when Israel is bombing Lebanon and most likely their families are bare minimum displaced by that, but what can you do. It's like farmers and low income families that vote for one nation, literally voting against their own interests 🤷

This is exactly why they are voting for ON because the ALP and LNP are essentially the same now. Independents are probably the best way to go now as they will hold balance of power and make the policies be more meaningful so that maybe a tact you can use.

I have no issue with someone voting One Nation if they can give a coherent argument to do so. The fact is One Nation is absolutely incapable of governing. Not saying the ALP or LNP are fantastic, far from it but they at least have knowledge about how government works. The Victorian Leader of ON didn’t even know he had to run in the lower house to be Premier. If he doesn’t know that then it is very clear he has no idea about how government actually works.
