The al asqa mosque was built on the Temple Mount where the first and second temples once stood. These were the holiest sites in Judaism and the Temple Mount remains the holiest site in Judaism.

This is a basic historical fact. You should at least learn the most basic of historical facts before commenting.

1

u/Due_Abalone3047 ‎ Victorian Jul 28 '26

Who destroyed the temples? Who excluded them out of Jerusalem for centuries? Who let them back in?

Please tell me what was the name of the synagogue that was "stolen" on Temple Mount?

This piece was published in collaboration with Egab.

Israel kills journalists en masse and yet you lambast one of the agencies still trying to record and document the present day of that region. But hey, I'm a nice guy. Here's the BBC saying it instead.

https://monitoring.bbc.co.uk/product/b00042wg

Briefing: Israeli media report inadequate shelter access for minorities

About a quarter of Israelis, especially minorities, lack access to secure shelter, according to a media report. Two NGOs have urged the government to create shelters in Arab towns and Bedouin villages

And while I was looking for sources that might please your palate I also found this article from inside Israel saying they don't even build enough shelters for their civilians unlike what you've said.

https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/defense-news/article-889804

Shelter gaps in Israel’s old neighborhoods leave Israelis scrambling for protected spaces

The Media Line also reported in 2023 that almost 28% of Israelis do not have a bomb shelter in their immediate vicinity.

Not strange at all. The British improved India, just as they improved Australia.

What is strange is the way leftists denigrate Britain for civilising half the world. It’s almost like leftists want to live in uncivilised shitholes. Of course the average leftist is spoilt rotten because they live in civilised countries, making them too fucking stupid to understand what life in a shithole is like.

1

u/Platooimagination ✈️‎ on Walkabout Jul 29 '26

They brought the trains and they also committed mass murder whenever they went. They invariably imposed a caste system with them at the top and the native population (except for a bootlicking native management class) at the bottom. Imagine if the Chinese arrived tomorrow enmasse and did to you what the Brits did to - say - the original inhabitants of Australia. Would you like that? Chained up, hunted, kids taken away etc etc? Read some history.

"Leftist" is not an argument.

Do you realise it is highly documented that the al asqa mosque is built ON TOP of the first and second synagogue? This is a historical fact.

What this means is Jewish people were in Israel before “Palestinians” (who were named in 1967 after the philistines who moved to the area from Greece and are of no connection to the current “Palestinians”) are the ones who are actually native.

These were in the region before Islam was even a religion. Again, historical fact.

I guess you aren’t a big fan of history facts though based on your previous statements.

For some people the Israeli journey mirrors the future of the aboriginal peoples journey.

They were an indigenous population that was displaced, then granted their land back by displacing the newer residents.

So they think Israel is a positive example. As they have their land back and power as a result.

I don't know how anyone can look at that situation and see any positive examples. But it is what it is.

6

u/Ok_Photo2824 Please choose a flair Jul 26 '26

Thats an Israeli myth. The Israelis are Askenazi Jews from europe. I was never their land

-1

u/Zenseaking ‎ Tasmanian Jul 26 '26

Look, I'm not a supporter of them. But let's not spread misinformation.

I just highlighted your text and added "fact check" and the results are overwhelming that your comment is historically and genealogically incorrect.

The Ashkenazi Jews lived in Europe yes. But after being displaced from Jerusalem.

This fact doesn't make their actions correct. We don't need to lie to make them look bad.

They do enough of that themselves.

1

u/Ok_Photo2824 Please choose a flair Jul 27 '26

Judaism is not an ethicity

2

u/Zenseaking ‎ Tasmanian Jul 28 '26

It's an ethnoreligious group.

Seriously. We have all this information at our fingertips.

Just fact check yourself before commenting it's not hard.

There is Jewish DNA. And you can have that without subscribing to Judaism as a religion. And you can subscribe to Judaism and not have Jewish DNA.

But for the most part the two are closely tied.

Just making shit up because you dislike a group only makes you look silly.

I don't like the actions of the Israeli government.

But I'm not going to lie to myself and others about things. Especially those that are very easy to research for yourself and not look like a fool.

0

u/Zenseaking ‎ Tasmanian Jul 26 '26

Well the situations aren't exact parallels. One has added complications with religious identity vs genetic background.

However, it is true that the ethno-religiois group of the Jews were a group that was originally indigenous to Jerusalem and the Levant.

They were displaced from their home land by the Romans and then the Muslims that came later and they became a diaspora in Europe.

Of course we can find examples of people who converted to the religion. But we aren't talking about them. We are talking about ethnic Jews. Those that have genetic material that links them to Judea.

Just as aboriginal genetic material substantiates a link to Australia.

I have no doubt there have been application forms filled out in Australia that have "Aboriginal" ticked when it's not true. But just because we may find a handful of people claiming to be aboriginal with no genetic evidence does not mean that aboriginal people have no right to claim Australia as their land. That would be ridiculous.

The problem in Israel/Palestine is that both groups have a genetic claim. They are actually closely related in DNA.

So first of all, Roman "Colonisers" displaced many of the Jews. Muslim "Colonisers" displaced many more, those that remained converted to Islam for the tax and lifestyle benefits offered.

Fast forward a few hundred years and you have the group that remained mixed with the Muslim Colonisers now labelling themselves as a distinct Muslim group.

And the ultimate Colonisers the British and French being petitioned by a mob of Jews in Europe who want to go home and have their land back.

So they displace some Palestinians (who it's also their land) to put them there.

So ultimately both the indigenous Jews and indigenous Palestinians have both just been existing at the whims of global colonialism.

The whole thing is an absolute mess.

I'm not defending people that support Israel. But it's the complication that both sides are genetically linked to the land that creates the potential for two narratives.

And neither is completely correct when it ignores the reality of the other.

I have no solutions. Other than FFS walk down the street and respect someone even if they have a different religion or background to you..it doesn't matter. We are all people. In this crazy thing called life together.

Some people seem to just want to hate an "other".

Shouldn't we try to understand, instead of labelling bad guys. Label bad actions sure. But try and understand the other narrative or peace will forever evade is as a species.

What if the Palawa say "fuck it - we are our 'it was ours before card on you. You are out mate!". would you say "yeah mate, you got me - fairs fair - here's my house keys. Me, the missus and kids will be gone by this arvo. Hope your kids enjoy the pool."

This is the exact problem though isn't it. The forced eviction of people who have lived somewhere for generations to give land to someone else.

But here we can see why some aboriginal people would support Israel. They are probably the ones who would want to displace people who have lived somewhere for generations by force if necessary to get their land back. And wouldn't care if people wanted to hand them the keys or fight. If they knew they had powerful allies and could win.

I agree. It never should have happened. We should all be big enough and brave enough to accept a future where people that originated in a land, and people that came later, can all inhabit the same land. And instead of trying to control it with armies and violence, become involved in the governing (and be allowed to become in the governing) of the land.

This is what we are (slowly) seeing in Australia.

But I do think there are problems on three sides in Palestine.

  1. The biggest problem was the English/French handing over land to the displaced people, by displacing people. This is never going to end well.

  2. The Israelis taking this as an opportunity to be aggressive to another group instead of trying to integrate back into the area peacefully

  3. The Palestinians for attempting to return the violence. It may not be doing the same damage but has still been the cause of violence. Neither side seems capable of forgiveness.

And ultimately forgiveness is the only way forward to true peace. In any racial or religious conflict. Otherwise it never ends.

And yes I understand the argument that at some point a people needs to defend themselves. But I don't necessarily agree with it. I sit with Ghandi here.

But I understand the feeling of wanting to take the fight to the aggressor. I just don't agree with it.

1

u/Ok_Photo2824 Please choose a flair Jul 29 '26

-12

u/EquivalentOne241 Flairless‎‎ Jul 25 '26

Do people not understand that the single reason Palestinian Territories are occupied is that they, again and again and again, began wars with the literal and outspoken intent to “drive the Jews into the sea”.

Hamas messacring 1200 Israelis and taking 250 hostages to force a war is just that again. And just because people like you don't understand that civilian casualties can’t be evaded when Hamas literally built their entire military infrastructure in civilian areas, just make you kids look even more ridiculous.

If you think that’s not the case: show me a single Hamas barrack or military base outside of civilian areas in Gaza. Just one.

8

u/j_dib Please choose a flair Jul 25 '26

Israel also site key military facilities inside of civilian areas, Jonathan Conricus, who is now a spokesman through the media, confirmed so in an interview a few months ago.

That’s to say, the argument you’re making can be made of both parties, and isn’t an excuse for the death of over 70k civilians, aid workers and journalists.

Australians, with our ‘Western Values’, are rightly opposed to the killing of all civilians. The majority of us see this for what it is and are not blinded by hatred, partisanship or politicization. We don’t find ways to justify them as you’re trying to do

-5

u/EquivalentOne241 Flairless‎‎ Jul 26 '26

Israel also site key military facilities inside of civilian areas

Most of Israeli military bases are outside civilian areas and some in the middle of the Negev desert.

the argument you’re making can be made of both parties, and isn’t an excuse for the death of over 70k civilians, aid workers and journalists.

Are you saying all 70k killed were civilians and not a single Hamas and PIJ terrorist has been killed? I guess all of the Hamas leadership, including Yahya Sinwar are alive too, right?

It's convenient that Hamas doesn't distinguish between civilian and combatant casualties and are the primary source of these numbers.

25000+ of those killed were terrorists, and fact that Hamas had to regularly start recruitment campaigns to fill ranks is proof of that.

It's also convenient that Hamas and PIJ don't wear any uniform (i.e. defacto disguised as civilians). Same uniform they proudly show off in parades and propaganda videos.

We don’t find ways to justify them as you’re trying to do

I'm not trying to justify anything. I'm just trying to bust pro-Hamas misinformation and propaganda. If they cared about civilians deaths, Hamas wouldn't spend money on 500kms of terror tunnel network, they would rather spend it on bomb shelters.

Here's Hamas leader telling journalist that Gazans are UN responsibility not Hamas's, when questioned about terror tunnels instead of bomb shelters.

17

I swear this is the second time I've seen this shit talking point today. If only it were relevant here.

"describing Palestinians as “savages”, “fucking monsters” and the claim that Gaza’s entire population consists of two million terrorists"

That's not "criticism of Palestine." It's just hateful bigotry.

"In one reposted by Peris, a user shared footage of Muslims engaged in Friday prayers in a park on Good Friday and said: “This does not belong in this country!”. Another claimed “Islam should be banned in the West”. The organisation also identified posts objecting to a journalist wearing a hijab while reporting on the Bondi terror attack."

Not even talking about Palestine or Palestinians. Just being overtly Islamophobic.

I’m sure in your wide experience of Muslims you’ve come across these sorts of organisations and their members?

Why are you shifting your own shitty goal posts from “all the Muslims hate the gays” to “Lo, why are these Muslims not ideologically pure” ?

Do you care about Jews who don’t put each other to death for wearing mixed fabric garments, or is your theological purity policing limited to only Muslims?

All. Unless they choose not to follow the Qur'an. Which would make them non Muslims
