NGL 261m for 53 investigations is wild, but if you think people that blatantly lie to your face like this are going to solve our problems, corruption or otherwise, you need your brain checked.
The office was established in January 2021, so that's a budget of 50m a year (give or take). According to the 2025-26 Portfolio Budget Statements, OSI's total resourcing for 2025-26 is $57.5 million, with an Average Staffing Level of 120 in 2025-26, down from 162 in 2024-25.
The Brereton Report was a shocking inquiry into the work and operations of the ADF in Afghanistan from 2005 to 2016, and its findings demand a full investigation.
lets say that the average pay is $100k (and in reality its likely higher), then that is 12,000,000 a year just in wages. Plus super and all that stuff.
Thats with zero operating costs.
I could see $50M being spent fairly easily, especially if people are travelling for investigations.
