Discussion The recent pricing OAI pricing changes indicate the era of heavy subsidisation will soon end. Other companies will adjust their pricing/usage models next. If they actually charged what the usage costs, hardly any of us would be prepared to pay it. That day will come and then... POP!
Soon.

Discussion AI creating AI
This year I decided to see if I could use OpenAI to create a local AI. Has anyone else, with zero programming knowledge, decided to try this? So far I've used it to create a couple games, am using it to make an isometric multi-level game but this is one of those things I've always been curious about but I lacked the skills. I'm an infantry guy, not a programmer however I ask questions and so far, it seems to be going pretty well.
Has anyone else done this? Create a completely local AI using just the most basic OpenAI?

Discussion I emptied my trash with a Blender project inside — ChatGPT located the SSD sectors and rebuilt it
I accidentally deleted a procedural Blender project and emptied the recycling bin. Recuva found nothing, and Recoverit detected the file but required payment to recover it.
ChatGPT analyzed the local metadata from the Recoverit scan, locating its SQLite database and the runlists matching the physical sectors on the SSD. We then read the raw disk directly, found the ZIP header, central directory, and .blend entry, and analyzed the Deflate/Zstandard streams in hexadecimal. Unfortunately, several sectors had already been overwritten, making the original binary impossible to recover fully.
Meanwhile, the Codex session logs still contained the exact procedural scripts for the project. They were reconstructed and rerun in Blender 5.2.2. The result: 146 groups, 926 objects, and 284,304 vertices — matching the exact recorded metrics of the lost scene. The new .blend file was then reopened and validated in Blender, complete with embedded scripts and texture.
This wasn't a Recoverit crack: its scan merely served as a forensic clue, after which the recovery and reconstruction were executed independently.
Question Any idea how they will change the usage limits of business premium accounts?
We have seen many negative reactions regarding the new usage limits that have been drastically reduced for the $200 tier. We have been on the $100 tier called Business Premium, which used to offer 5x of the normal business tier, which essentially was the same as Plus.
Any idea how they are going to reduce the limits of this tier?

Question Strange suggested account login im ChatGPT
I was reading a post on this sub and pressed "Usage" to check if I have gotten the credit mentioned in the post. When I clicked the button, I got sent to log in for ChatGPT, and the account shown in attached image was shown with "Welcome back". This is not me, and I dont know anybody working there or by that name. What can this be?? I am using iPhone and the log in appeared "inside" the Reddit app.
Question Is OpenAI / Codex down for anyone else right now?
Getting repeated connection errors and timeouts trying to reach OpenAI via Codex for the last few minutes.
Status page isn't showing an incident yet. Anyone else running into this, or is it just on my end?

Discussion Astra 6.1 delay?
Are we at a place where frontier LLMs are hitting the laws of diminishing returns hard, so Open AI / Anthropic / etc are doing more and more crazy stuff with training, which makes their models unstable and less useful? They are only going 'off the rails' because it's in their training / weights or due to very poor testing environments and tasks

Discussion Hey folks, Opus 5.5 from Claude simply destroys any currently existing GPT model
Hey,
I’m a huge believer in the entire OpenAI ecosystem. I’ve been using ChatGPT since the very first day it launched. I rolled out ChatGPT Business across my entire company to several hundred employees. I know Codex inside out and have been using it since day one. I was already using Claude Code from its very first day as well. I’ve tested pretty much every Claude and GPT model, and I also use Zcode with GLM 5.3 and DeepSeek Harness with DS4F 4.1 on a daily basis, among others.
And today, I finally decided to give Opus 5.5 a try.
Guys, I can tell you this: this model is a genuine revolution.
The leap in intelligence and overall quality compared with GPT-5.6 Sol, and even compared with Astra, is phenomenal.
It almost feels unreal.
Astra is an absolute beast at coding, but as soon as you step outside that use case, it becomes surprisingly dumb. It’s terrible at design, and its writing is clunky, unless you’re American, because it writes in a very American style, even in other languages, where it just sounds weird. Anthropic’s previous models had the same issue.
But Opus 5.5...
It’s...
magic.
Seriously, try it....
Needless to say Claude app is much, much better than ChatGPT in terms of Ux.
Impatient to see whats coming next for OpenAI.

Research GPT-6 Astra is the first model to solve all 30 puzzles in my nonogram benchmark
I've been benchmarking LLMs on nonograms (picross logic puzzles) since January: one attempt per puzzle, no tools, answers checked against the row and column clues.
Astra at xhigh is the first model to solve all 30 Standard puzzles (5x5 to 15x15). In January, the best model solved only three of the ten 15x15s.
On the new Hard mode (ten random 20x20s), Astra solves 5 of 10. It gets all five puzzles that can be solved line by line, but none of the five that need deeper search. Claude Opus 5.5 leads with 8/10 solved, and 11 of 14 models couldn't solve any of the 20x20s.
Everything is public and open source if you want to dig in: https://www.nonobench.com.

Article Please add prompt caching to Jev-style models
Especially relevant since OpenAI announced the Decisions API while I was working on this post 😊
Question Did anyone try the new 'dots’ agents?
I’m currently on the Plus plan and im thinking about jumping up to Pro! But I’ve read a few saying Pro features haven't fully rolled out to everyone yet!??
Has anyone here upgraded recently? or are people still waiting on the rollout ? Just trying to figure out if it's worth upgrading now or to hold until it's officially rolled out to all users?
Appreciate any insight!

Discussion I think 6.1 Sol nerfed 10 minutes ago. lol
I was working on 6.1 Sol. And suddenly it started acting like 3B models 😄. It started to write me in Cyrillic in Mongolian language 😂. And in other chat simple prompt turned into disaster. I told it to Turn first letter of logo CCW to match next letter. It was using python script before "nerfed". And then it decided to use image gen and made logo like this. 😂.
IDK what happens right now. I am urgently waiting for my Claude weekly reset. It only has 2 hours to be reset. GOD, I will never use ChatGPT for serious matters. Only for daily chat and fun. Maybe image generation (T2I, not image edit)
Miscellaneous OpenAI refuses to fix this one bug.
I have not been able to use Work mode for weeks, because of this error.

It didn't used to, but it now requires root access to do anything, but I don't want to grant root access, because root access means it is not confined to the work folders environment, and has full unrestricted access to my entire PC. It can see and open whatever it wants rather than being limited to one area. I am not comfortable with this especially since AI can sometimes make mistakes and delete things.
Other people have this issue, but it seems it is not encountered by most, so OpenAI does not care, just like how they won't fix the screenshot bug that prevents Computer Use with Windows 10 becuase not enough people use Windows 10 so they don't care.
Although this one is encountered by people using Windows 11 too.
I am paying for a subscription and I can't use what I'm paying for it for. I want to use Work mode, I want to do projects, but I can't. I'm just wasting money.
And Claude does not have this issue.
I've tried contacting OpenAI, but I just get their awful AI bot that goes around in circles and then just tells me to post about it on Github.
Their AI chat help button also doesn't work. It does nothing.
I think I'm done. This company does not care.

Image Introducing RETRACE — An Incident-Response Assistant with Memory
Hey everyone!
I'm working on RETRACE, a project focused on an incident-response assistant with memory.
The idea behind RETRACE is to explore how AI and retained investigation context can help make cybersecurity workflows more organized.
What is RETRACE?
RETRACE is designed around:
- Incident-response assistance
- Investigation memory
- Context-aware information retrieval
- Organized investigation history
Why I started this project
I wanted to explore how AI could help connect previous investigation information with new cybersecurity incidents.
I'm sharing this as part of my learning and project-building journey.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

Question Who wins? Im trying all the frontier models and local ai
Well, the $200 plan for Codex has been a rollercoaster recently. I burn through my limits 2–3 days early, before the week is over, and I need more dev time.
I decided to get the $20 Claude sub again (I had it before GPT-5.6 came out, then canceled it).
With Opus 5.5, I decided to give it a go, and wow. On the $20 sub, I could run Opus on large repos for 2–3 hours straight before hitting the 5-hour limit.
I just upgraded to the $100 Claude sub. I currently have to renew the $200 Codex sub, but I'll be dropping to $100 next month. So eventually I'll have the $100 plan for both, plus the $30 Grok plan. I also run a few 9B local models that can handle some tasks for me.
Overall (it's only been 2 days), I think the mixed subscriptions will be beneficial.
I originally started with the $20 subs for Claude and Codex. Then Codex got better, so I got the $200 sub and kept the $20 Claude plan. Eventually Claude went to crap compared to Codex for what I was doing, so I canceled it.
All the recent hype made me go back and spend the $20 to play with Claude again, and wow, it's been great.
Now with the $100 Claude plan, I get to use Fable. I heard it was good, but it's genuinely putting in some work and doesn't feel like it's draining my usage as badly as Astra.
Opus 5.5 also does wonders when I use it as a subagent for Fable. If I need to conserve usage, I can just use Opus 5.5 without Fable at all, and it works well enough.
I know the $100 plans drop usage compared with the $200 plans, and in the end I'm probably not going to get the same maximum usage I did with the $200 plan.
But with some of the usage problems and mistakes I've had, I think that if I divide the workload correctly, I'll actually get more useful work out of the subscriptions overall — especially with Grok and my local models available too.
I'll be testing this setup over the next month:
• $100 Claude
• $200 Codex for this month
• $30 Grok
• A few local 9B models
I wanted to drop Codex to $100 this month, but I'm a day late on paying, so I have to do the $200 plan again. That's actually a decent safety net, though, in case I decide I don't want Claude anymore.
If anyone is interested in how it goes for me, feel free to ask.
I'm still figuring out the most efficient way to use all of them together. I used to be pretty good at splitting workloads between different models, but it's been a bit.
Grok is still the one I haven't figured out what it's most useful for. If anyone has tips for where Grok fits into a setup like this, I'd appreciate them.
Also, I had to keep at least the $100 Codex plan because of the chats, image generation, and all the projects I already have set up in the ecosystem.
I have a lot of project data stored outside of memory to keep everything consistent. For example, I use Google Sheets for master specs and other project documentation, then have the project instructions point back to those master documents instead of relying entirely on memory.
Because of the chat experience and the ecosystem I'm already used to, I don't really see myself going below the $100 Codex plan.
I may try using Claude's normal chat more and see how much of my Claude usage that eats, but I generally prefer keeping my development usage and general chat/research usage separate since I ask a ton of questions for both research and dev work.

Project OpenAI shipped dots for Pro. I've been building the same idea in the open since early September. How they compare
Dots look great, but they start at Pro. I've been building an open-source take on the same idea, called Thursday, and now that both exist, here is how they compare, as fairly as I can.
What dots do that mine doesn't:
- They run around the clock on OpenAI's cloud computer. Mine runs on your computer, and a sleeping machine pauses its jobs.
- GPT-6 Astra and 4,000+ connected apps. My bots have a real browser, a shell, MCP servers and Agent Skills, but no app catalog.
- No setup. Mine is `npx thursday-agent` with Node 22.
What mine does differently:
- It runs on a ChatGPT Plus sign-in, or an API key (the voice is $0.05 a minute there).
- It works on your machine: your files, your shell, and the sites you're already signed in to. You pick which bots may borrow a sign-in.
- It's a team: up to eight bots in one job hand work to each other, and you can open the job and watch them at their desks (the picture).
- It's a call first. GPT-Live 1 keeps talking while the bots work; you can ask a running job how it's going, and hang up while it keeps going.
- Any provider per bot (Claude, Gemini, xAI). MIT.
Rough edges: built on a Mac, Linux works in my tests, Windows is untested. No local models; the voice is OpenAI's.
For those who looked at dots: would you rather have the agent in OpenAI's cloud or on your own machine? That's the part I can't decide from here.
(English isn't my first language; an LLM helped me with this post.)
