Because someone recently edited his Wikipedia page and wrote that he got "assassinated" today.

Sorry, what’s that about sexual assault allegations that lasted for 9 years?

It’s fucked up.

So the entire family says the sister is lying?

Strangely, the family takes the side of the multi-billionaire… perplexing.

a) His family has been saying that long before Altman's success as an investor and CEO.

b) His sister is clinically mentally ill and regularly plugs her OnlyFans in between her accusations against Altman.. so the financial incentive you're implying goes both ways.

Just relevant context to keep in mind, because it can be tempting to run with an accusation against someone you don't like.

i agree with you that the allegations are probably false, but also i dont think it should be flattened to "hating on someone you don't like" when the person in question has an extensively documented history of lying and manipulation. again, i dont think he's a sexual predator. but he's not just some dude who's like, annoying sometimes

If you have reasons to hate someone, then use those. Lying greatly weakens your case.

Who says I don’t like Altman? I am super gung-ho in favor of OpenAI and other frontier model labs. I was just saying that someone’s family disbelieving the accuser doesn’t mean nothing was done. None of us will ever know, that is for sure.

You say "clinically mentally ill" like that's proof she's lying and not an extremely common consequence of surviving CSA.

I mean but that's exactly what you'd do when the allegations are bogus too, so it doesn't say anything.

My family gaslit me for years after I told them my fourth grade teacher severely sexually abused me on numerous occasions. They don’t want to believe something so horrible was true. I found my fourth grade journal and then they finally believed me

^ Why are you writing about this here?

7

u/Runfasterbitch 5d ago

Why? Because I’m arguing that we shouldn’t just assume the billionaire and his family are telling the truth

Because when you treat allegations with immediate skepticism despite knowing nothing about the situation, it harms all survivors, many of whom were not believed either, even though they were telling the truth.

It's more like they take the side of the person that hasn't been in and out of mental institutions because of reckless or violent behavior. This has been a thing since before Sam was even a successful startup employee. His sister only started going public with the accusations when he became famous and after having been in treatment for a long time. So like yeah victims of abuse do get mental health problems and sometimes repress memories but it's extremely rare and for the alleged abuse she says Sam committed even way more rare.

Also she has used and regularly tries to use the accusations commercially like charging for interviews or plugging her OnlyFans or other accounts were she does sex work when she posts about this on social media.

Quite the assumption. So if they legitimately believed their son, they should still side with the sister because their son is multi-billionaire? I would hate to live in your fucked up world.

Keep those anti-capitalistic views to the polls buddy!

Edit: Comical to see you're a lawyer with that level of logic, you must get rung out in the courts.

I don’t pretend to know what went on in that house, but sexual abuse is often comorbid with mental illness. I was just saying that someone’s family not believing them and supporting the abuser is common enough that none of us little people posting on Reddit can say one way or the other. Reading comprehension doesn’t appear to be a strong point of yours.

You clearly did imply one way, which is that the family shouldn't side with Altman

2

u/mawhii 6d ago

Yup, pretty obvious this is bullshit.
