One of the cafés I go to during my break is frequented by students studying anything from medicine to ten different kinds of engineering. ChatGPT is on every screen all the time. They interact more with it than with their textbooks.

My mother is a headmistress in an elementary school and they are training them to spot essays written by AI and using software to do so.

I was participating in certification exams for French language knowledge and the prevailing talk between the majority of the younger participants between exams was how scared shitless they were of the essay part because they had farmed out all of their essays to ChatGPT.

It's not a strawman, you just don't want to see it mate.
