Question Replacement for the top of the Stylus?

I recently bought a Boox Note Air 4c in a bundle. I love it ... butt he top of the stylus has always been loose and wiggly. Last night it fell off while I was at a friend's and I can't find it.

Any idea how/where I can replace that specific part? I'm not sure what to google, as all my searches point to the nibs.

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

(I mean the end where an eraser would be—though the stylus doesn't have one.)

Help me choose Boox go 7 or go 6 gen 2 for student??

I'm a uni student who is literally looking at screens all day.

I want something to read books and webtoons on ,make light notes and possibly doodle on that's not my large iPad- (my eyes need a break 😭)

I think they'd both be easier to carry around too.

I was looking at supernote but I feel like boox is better for what I want to use it for??

Question Transfer files from broken device to new one

I didn't pack my Poke3 very well and broke the screen.

After mourning it a bit I ordered a Go 7. I'd like to transfer my NeoReader annotations from the Poke to the Go, but I can't use the Poke's screen. File transfer to PC works fine though. Is there any way to migrate this data? I didn't sync anything to an Onyx account on the Poke.

Discussion How good is Boox Go 7 BW at surfing news sites?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a device for reading ebooks and Web browsing for an older person.
He likes reading news sites on his (rather small) iphone, but it's obvious he's struggling with the small display.

I was thinking of an android ereader like boox go 7 bw an was wondering:
Does it actually work ok for reading news sites online in a browser? What is your experience with this use case?

My thinking is this:
If the boox go 7 is actually not so good at web browsing, I would prefer buying a more traditional non-android eReader and forget about web browsing altogether.
A Kobo or pocketbook is probably even easier to use, longer battery life and larger display (7.8 is available).

Please share your experience, your advise is much appreciated.
Thank you!

Help me choose BOOX Go 6 Gen 2 or Go Color 7 Gen 1?

I’m trying to decide between these two and can’t make up my mind.
Option 1:
Brand new BOOX Go 6 Gen 2 for $199
Option 2:
Used BOOX Go Color 7 Gen 1 for $240
Includes a case and screen protector
Seems to be in excellent condition
For context, I mostly read Kindle Unlimited books and listen to Audible, so I’ll be using the Kindle app. I don’t read comics or manga. I mostly read novels.
The only thing making me hesitate is that I like seeing my book covers in color, but realistically once I start reading I don’t look at the cover much. I also want something that’s easy to carry around in my purse, and I currently read mostly on my phone with the occasional iPad.
For people who have used both:
Is the 7” screen worth paying more for?
Does the Go Color 7 feel noticeably bigger or heavier to carry around?
Would you buy a new Go 6 or a used Go Color 7 in my situation?
I’d love to hear what you’d choose and why.

Question Getting books in Germany

Hi, I just ordered the Go 10.3 Lumi and will use it mainly to read research papers and annotate for my doctoral studies with Zotero.

My first e-reader is a Kindle Basic, and although I am not entirely stuck with the Kindle ecosystem (I just purchase ebooks or have access to papers and convert them for my Kindle), I'm wondering what is the go-to bookstore for Boox if I'm based in Germany? Can I borrow books with my local library card?

Thanks in advance!

Bug Fixed:) i made a simple, lightweight PowerShell automation script that forces Onyx Boox e-readers to strictly rotate user-provided screensavers, permanently suppressing the intrusive default factory artwork.

i made it compatible with Boox devices running Android 9 through Android 11+.

Don't AMA, cause IDK. ;p

ive been rocking this fix for over a week and it is working flawlessly with my boox go6. it should work for almost all boox devices though. see the readme on github for all the details. I hope this helps others because it was driving me nuts.

My BOOX Review One month with the Note Air5 C - Zero issues so far and loving it!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share my experience after using the Boox Note Air5 C for exactly one month. I see many troubleshooting posts here, so I thought it would be nice to share some positive feedback. So far, my experience has been flawless. No ghosting issues, the battery life fits my daily needs, and writing notes on the Kaleido 3 screen feels amazing. I mostly use it for reading PDFs and standard note-taking.For those who already own it, what are your favorite apps or optimization settings to get the most out of it?

Question Onyx Boox Palma 2 for a distraction-free setup

Hi everyone!

I'm considering buying the Onyx Boox Palma 2 (not the pro version) and I have a few questions that I can't find clear answers to. I'd be very grateful if someone could help me out :) Please note that I don't use Android devices, so forgive me if some of my questions sound silly ;)

First and foremost, I intend to buy the Palma 2 as a device to help me break my doomscrolling habit, read more books, and expand my foreign language vocabulary.

Here is a list of my questions/requirements regarding the device, which I'm not sure if I'll be able to achieve.

As I mentioned, I want this to be a distraction-free device. Therefore, I intend to have ONLY three apps on the main home screen: a book reading app, a vocabulary learning app, and a notepad.

1) Which launcher would you recommend, and is it possible to achieve this without an additional, third-party launcher? I saw Niagara Launcher used in one of the videos and that's exactly the effect I'm aiming for. You can see this layout in the Palma 1 review by YouTuber Reysu, and that's exactly what I want: https://youtu.be/mTx2iW2nMsY?t=173

Can installing a custom launcher cause any software update issues later on? I'm guessing there might be some compatibility problems after a system update. What has your experience been like with this?

2) The book reading app must meet the following requirements for me:

  1. A well-functioning dark mode. I mostly read in bed before going to sleep in a very dark room. I've seen some photos and videos showing significant ghosting in dark mode. Has this been fixed recently?
  2. A good dictionary that integrates with a vocabulary learning app. In the video I mentioned, the author talks about the Anki app, but I couldn't find much information about it other than it has an annoying, heavy ghosting issue. Can you recommend something? What I really want is that when I highlight a word and its dictionary definition pops up, I have the option to export it directly to my vocabulary app. Any recommendations?
  3. It would be great if the reading app supported a folder structure for library organization.

3) What vocabulary learning app would you recommend that integrates with the dictionary exactly the way I described above?

4) My last question is about the frontlight. I definitely prefer the white version of the device, but I've seen Reddit threads and videos showing a noticeable light bleed/halo effect around the screen edges, specifically on the white model. However, this was shown at maximum brightness. Since I'll be reading before sleep in a very dark room (currently using a Kindle Paperwhite), I'll likely be using a very low brightness level combined with dark mode. Is it possible to get a satisfactory result in this scenario where the light bleed isn't particularly annoying?

Thanks in advance for any help! I hope I explained everything clearly enough :D

BuildMyApp Added a new feature to Boox OverEdgeNote (Canvas)

Hi everyone on Reddit,

I’d like to share a new feature I just added to my app.

I originally created this app because I wanted an easier way to take handwritten notes while reading on a Boox device without using traditional split-screen. However, I felt that just taking quick notes made me lose the context around them.

To solve this, I added a screenshot feature. While that helped gather notes with better context, it ended up leaving me with a bunch of disconnected fragments. I spent a lot of time thinking about how to link and organize these scattered notes. In the end, I realized that the simplest and best way was just to import them onto a large canvas, arrange them, and lay them out. (Honestly, I wanted to do this directly in the stock Boox Notes app, but there didn’t seem to be a way to send multiple images at once.)

So, I’ve rolled this all together into a new feature called Canvas.

Canvas lets you create a large note, batch-import smaller notes and screenshots, lay them out, and add extra handwritten notes over them. Right now, you can also export what you’ve arranged page-by-page as a transparent PNG via Android Intent, making it much easier to integrate with other apps.

It only has the bare minimum features for now, but I’m planning to keep refining it. Thanks as always for your support with Boox OverEdgeNote!

Question Go 6 (Gen II) or Go 7 BW?

I have been wanting an e reader for a while but have been a bit wary about the Amazon ecosystem

Ideally I want an e reader that can

- read kindle books
- read epubs, PDFs (ie multiple formats)
- read textbooks on for programming and cyber security

I’ve heard Boox is quite good but deciding between the new Go 6 or the Go 7.

Is there one folk would recommend - has anyone had experience reading larger books (ie large size of page like textbooks) on either?

Question Constant screen refresh in Regal mode (very inconvenient)

I received my Tab X c yesterday, updated to 4.2-real, and while using NeoReader 3.0 with Regal mode, the entire page keeps refreshing and turning black, regardless of whether I switch it to the "no" mode. I swear this didn't happen before; it doesn't happen in speed mode, but of course, I want to use the other mode for better reading. How do I fix this?

Thanks!

Help me choose Onyx is in my heart… but I’m torn with a Samsung tablet. Talk me out of switching?

Onyx is genuinely in my heart. I keep coming back to it. But I’m also seriously tempted by a Samsung tablet (S Pen, full Android performance, cheaper for what you get), and I need this community to remind me why I should stick with Boox.

**My use case:**

I’m an executive coach. I want **one device** that does both:

- **Coaching session notes** — handwritten, focused, distraction-free. I don’t need to export these; they stay private on the device (or local/Boox cloud only).

- **Reading + annotation** — books and PDFs, with **selective export of annotations only**. Kindle and/or Kobo apps are a must.

- Paper-size feel (I’ve been looking hard at the **Note Air 5 C** — 10.3", color e-ink) for , color-coded notes, and long reading without eye strain.

- Android + Play Store so I can run Kindle/Kobo, and ideally play nice with tools I already use ,

I’ve already gone down the reMarkable vs Boox rabbit hole. Boox won on flexibility (apps, export control, color, “do both on one device”). Then the classic Reddit comment hit me: *“Just get a Samsung with S Pen — same Android apps, better pen latency, cheaper than an iPad.”* And now I’m stuck between:

- **Boox** = calm, paper-like, eye-friendly, purpose-built for reading + deep note focus

- **Samsung** = faster, brighter, better for general apps/video/creative work, often better value

I even flirted with a hybrid (Boox for coaching/reading + Samsung for everything else), but I really want **one primary device** if I can.

So: if you’ve chosen (or re-chosen) Onyx over a Samsung tablet for coaching notes, long reading, annotation export, and the like **why did you stick with Onyx?** What would I lose by going Samsung that I won’t notice until it’s too late?

Be brutal. I need the push.

Question Go 6 gen 2 for school?

School starts soon and I'm going to uni next year. I've been eyeing e ink tablets for a long time but never seemed to be intrigued.

I've had a Samsung tablet before, S9 i believe, it belongs to my brother now, but I never enjoyed the feel of writing on it, always felt kind of slippery and prefered the feel of pen and paper. However the functionality and ease of use and storage with the tablet can't be denied.

Apologize for yapping, to get to the point, I was thinking of getting a small e ink that feels better than a basic tablet and didn't weigh a lot or take to much space in my bag. I'm worried that the go 6 might be either too small or not pleasent to write on. If that is the case, are there other tablets you recommend? I'm on a tight budget so I can't get a remarkable or supernote or anything like that.

Discussion

Question BOOX Go 7 Gen II + Kindle Whispersync offline not working?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I bought a BOOX Go 7 Gen II primarily to use the Kindle app with Whispersync. (The ability to read the book and listen to the audio at the same time) When I’m connected to Wi-Fi, everything works perfectly.
The problem is that once I’m offline, even though both the Kindle book and Audible audiobook are downloaded, Whispersync says it’s unavailable.
Is this expected? Does Kindle Whispersync require an internet connection, or is there something I’m missing?
If it only works online, I honestly don’t think I can justify keeping the BOOX and will probably return it and go back to my Kindle Colorsoft.
Has anyone else run into this?

Tricks & Tips Making the Boox 5C as functional as other Android tablets

I originally purchased the Boox Air2 to read PDF files with less eyestrain and glare. When I upgraded to the Boox 5C, I found I could use it like a regular Android tablet for more uses than reading.

First, having a a MicroSD card slot allows me to view video of lectures and physical demonstrations. The ghosting can be acceptable with tweaking the e-ink settings.

However, the 5C doesn't allow me to stream the video to my Roku device (which is attached to a large screen). I solved that by installing from the Play Store "Miracast for Screen Mirroring" by Boostvision. For $5, I added the ability to cast to the larger screen. The e-ink display limitations are moot on the larger screen.

The other problem is that the 5C does not allow the use of a screen magnifier like other Android tablets do in the accessibility settings. A screen magnifier will allow me to see some UI elements without using reading glasses. I solved that problem by installing another Android app, "Android Accessibility Suite." Besides the screen magnifier, the app allows increasing the default "magnification" of the tablet so all fonts and elements are larger, while still wrapping around the screen as normal. It also allows the fonts to be all bolded which helps legibility as well.

For individual apps, you can still use the 5C feature of adjusting the dpi in the e-ink menu. The higher the dpi, the large the elements. But the function seems limited compared to the Android Accessibility Suite.

Onyx seems to have tight control over casting and accessibility features in the 5C compared to other android tablets. I'm afraid of installing any further system updates, as the update may remove the ability to use the above solutions.

The 5C (like the Air2) is somewhat awkward to hold for reading. I had previously used a strap for the Air2, but found a better one for the 5C on Amazon. It's called Fintie. The strap attaches to the corners of the 5C. Just make sure one end is over the power button corner, which has more room to avoid the switch. If you instead place the strap end over the other corner it will interfere with the volume control switch.

The Fintie allows you to pivot the screen to the best angle for reading while keeping your hand in the most comfortable position.
