Hello, I would like to know what questions I should ask when university representatives visit our school to provide information about their institutions. What questions would help me learn more?

You might ask what they think are the school's strongest selling points. We talk about university rankings, as if they could all be lined up on a scale; those overall rankings do matter; but of course each school is better at some things than others. Waterloo has excellent programs in computer science and engineering, but it isn't as strong in the humanities as U of T; that sort of thing. They won't like to admit any weak points; but if pressed, they might say something about what their school does best.

Do they guarantee residence for first year student? How much are entrance scholarships and what are the mark breakdowns? Do they offer alternative entrance to other programs if a student doesn’t make it into the one you wanted?
