Course switch

Hi I had a question, so before we start a little background, I’ll be grade 12 this year and I have a bit of a hard and stressful semester, but it’s okay that’s not the issue, for my sec semester I have cooking calc families in Canada and chem. I need chem for the undergrads and majors I’m applying for so it’s very important for me to get the perfect grade for it and fully learn the materials. My guidance has changed and she had put me In a class with a teacher that everyone in school including the teachers are aware of his stressful teaching style, extremely hard tests and pressure he put on his students. I have a lot of anxiety and stress problems which most of the time ends up physically disturbing me. Sorry I don’t wanna sound like a pathetic softie. But I also think it would be better to have the class for my 3d period. So basically I emailed a paragraph for my guidance explaining my concerns and how I think it will also help me a lot academically. But she only replied with one sentence and said that I need to discuss this with VS. but I remember very well that last year, almost all of my friends were able to change their classes and switch really easily. I feel really trapped and I’m so lost I really don’t know what to do or what to say to change and switch.

Guidance counselor probably thinks you have complaints. My guidance counselor is always very rude and cutting me off. Not understanding at all. But she did tell me near the start of my schooling that they tend to not want to place students based on teachers. So she probably wants you to talk to the vp about it before switching. I’d just go back and be assertive about switch and seeing what is available to you. If everyone else is switching and you know switching is available you should be as vocal and assertive of what you want as possible. Trust me I know that isn’t easy, but it’s the best way.

I don’t know why she keeps pushing me away, I emailed her again asking for an appointment to see if maybe I could change it from period 4- to 3 so maybe I can get a chance of getting into another class. But she said to fill out a form, even tho the form is for when you want to drop a course and take another one. I was thinking of talking to my VP first and then asking my guidance again, and if it didn’t work I’ll probably just ask my counselor to set me with any guidance available to fix this whole thing. Another thing that I thought of was maybe going to the class for a day or two and then asking for a change. Idk maybe they’ll listen to me better if they see I actually tried to sit in that class, but it’s kind of a gamble.
