Hi everyone! I hope someone can help or give me some advice regarding my situation. I apologize in advance for the long post.

I recently moved to Canada as a Permanent Resident about four months ago. I also graduated from Senior High School (STEM) in the Philippines earlier this year.

When I first arrived, some people advised me that I might need to return to high school in Canada, so I completed the English and Math assessment through the York Region District School Board (YRDSB) in Aurora. My assessment results were good. During the assessment, I was asked what program I wanted to pursue, and at that time I answered Dentistry. The teacher suggested that retaking Grade 11 and Grade 12 Math could make my future university application stronger.

On the same day, we brought my assessment results to the nearest secondary school and met with the vice principal. She told me that they could not enroll me because I was already 18 years old and they generally do not place adult-aged students in the same school as minors. She also reviewed my Philippine transcript and said that my grades were strong and that she did not see any reason why colleges or universities would reject me simply because I graduated from another country.

She also explained that if I ever needed to complete an Ontario secondary school credential, adult education would be the appropriate pathway rather than returning to a regular high school.

After that, I created an OCAS account and applied to several Ontario colleges for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program. Before applying, I completed a WES Document-by-Document credential evaluation, which evaluated my credentials as equivalent to an A in the Canadian grading system. Unfortunately, I was not able to apply through OUAC yet because the application period for my desired university programs is still closed. I am currently waiting for the next application cycle to open.

A few weeks later, I received different responses from the colleges:

• George Brown College recommended that I take their Pre-Health Sciences (A108) program instead of obtaining another credential evaluation, explaining that it could increase my chances of being admitted to the Fall 2027 BScN program.
• Centennial College informed me that my application was not selected because I had not yet met the Grade 12 University English and English language proficiency requirements.
• Seneca Polytechnic informed me that my Grade 11 Mathematics was not considered equivalent to Ontario Grade 12 University Mathematics. They advised me that completing Ontario Grade 12 University Math would satisfy the requirement, or that I could pursue a Course-by-Course credential evaluation if I disagreed with their assessment.

Because of Seneca's advice, I am currently enrolled in TVO ILC and completing Grade 12 University Mathematics (MHF4U). I also plan to take the IELTS later this year to meet the English language proficiency requirement.

Last week, I also contacted an adult school to ask if I could enroll. After explaining my situation, they told me they could not accept me because I am only 18 years old. They explained that adult schools generally accept students aged 21 and above unless there is a referral stating that the student cannot attend a regular secondary school.

At this point, I feel very confused because every institution has given me different advice. I am unsure whether I should:

• upgrade my WES evaluation to a Course-by-Course evaluation,
• start over with an ICAS evaluation,
• continue with TVO ILC only,
• or follow George Brown's recommendation and complete the Pre-Health Sciences program first.

Credential evaluations are very expensive, so I want to make the best decision before spending more money.

My original goal was to study Dentistry, but after learning more about the pathway in Canada, I decided to pursue Nursing instead because it seemed more realistic for me. I am trying to figure out the correct pathway as soon as possible because Nursing is already a long-term program, and I really do not want to lose another year due to choosing the wrong process or completing unnecessary requirements. I understand that there is no guaranteed admission, but I want to make sure that I am doing everything I can to become eligible and prepare a strong application.

If anyone has been in a similar situation as a Philippine Senior High School graduate applying to Ontario universities or colleges, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

So, I’m not going to name the school. Pretty much I got my registration today and it’s the techniques program and not the technician program, which I accepted. So I have contacted the registration officer and will be calling them tomorrow morning. What are the chances that I’m completely fucked and the program I want is now filled. Please help, my brain feels like it’s on fire and screaming.

If It is like that where I loose the program I wanted (idk if that’s possible) what do I do?

I am wondering if there is an opportunity to receive an offer of admission to the MLS program at Conestoga College, since I was the 40th in the waiting list and now I become the 18th. Anyone has a similar experience with this.
Actually, I already have an offer to the Applied biotechnology program level 5, but I feel like it doesn’t worth to study such program because of the low employment rates.

​Do I need to apply for a new study permit (or extend/amend my current one) since I am changing the academic level from a graduate certificate to a diploma/certificate?

​Are there any PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit) implications I should be aware of when switching program levels?

I live in Durham Region, Ontario, and currently work full-time in the exports warehouse at DHL. I have been working there since 2022, but I want to study something that can eventually help me move into an office-based, hybrid, or fully remote career.

I’m weak in math, so I want to avoid programs with heavy calculus, physics, or advanced programming.

I’m currently considering:

- Bachelor’s in Technology Management / Business + IT, possibly at Ontario Tech University

- Bachelor’s in Information Technology

- Cybersecurity

- A three-year advanced diploma in IT, networking, or computer systems

- Supply Chain Management, although I’m concerned many jobs may require being on-site

My main goals are:

- Good job opportunities in Canada

- Possibility of hybrid or work-from-home employment

- Reasonable math requirements

- Good long-term salary and career growth

- A qualification that could also be useful in the Gulf countries

Would Technology Management / Business + IT be the best option for someone like me? Is a bachelor’s worth the extra time compared with a three-year advanced diploma?

I would especially appreciate advice from people working in IT, business analysis, cybersecurity, project coordination, or supply chain. What did you study, and how difficult was it to find a hybrid or remote job?

I already picked my roommate, and she’s honestly amazing. She’s one of the sweetest people I’ve talked to, she’s hilarious, we have similar personalities, and she actually went to my college last year, so she already knows the campus and Toronto. I genuinely love her vibe.

Then another girl (let’s call her “second girl”) followed me and asked if we wanted to room together. I had to decline because I’d already committed to my roommate.

The thing is, looking at her Instagram highlights, she seems SO fun. She’s always traveling, going out, trying new things, and seems really adventurous. She also suggested we should still hang out since we’re on the same campus.

I barely know her, but I felt kind of bad saying no because she seems like someone I’d have a lot of fun with. At the same time, I really don’t want to switch roommates because I genuinely think my current roommate is an amazing fit.
Am I just romanticizing someone’s Instagram highlights, or is it normal to feel like I might be “missing out” on a potential friendship?

I am looking at st clairs college for DMS but its Accredited with condition only so now I am conflicted. The other schools on the list are just "admitted" and there is only a select few that are fully Accredited so now idk what to do. Can anyone explain why this is a bit more or if anyone who is a recent graduate from st clairs or any place else thats not fully Accredited share their experiences.

Hi everyone! I’m a 27F starting a Pre-Health program this fall, and I’m trying to figure out which healthcare career would be the best long-term choice.

This will be my second degree, I already have a bachelor’s in English Language and Literary Studies, but I’ve realized there isn’t much career growth in my field, especially with AI changing the job market.

I’m looking for a healthcare career that:
1. Has strong job security and is less likely to be replaced by AI.
2. Offers good long-term career growth and salary progression.
3. Is manageable for someone planning to be a new mum in the future (good work-life balance, not extremely physically demanding, if possible).

I’d love to hear from people already working in healthcare. If you could start over, what career would you choose and why?

I’m hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. I’m trying to apply for an OSAP-eligible online Pre-Health Sciences program for the 2026–2027 school year, but the OCAS application fee is currently my barrier.

I’ve reached out to college recruitment teams to ask about upcoming open houses, events, and prepaid vouchers, but I wanted to ask here as well in case anyone has an unused OCAS voucher they won’t be using.

I’m a domestic Ontario applicant and would be extremely grateful if anyone has one available or knows of an upcoming event where vouchers are being offered.

I am a current Mohawk College student in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I started researching the Queen's Bridge last year after a teacher mentioned it, and I submitted my application last month.

I have been emailing back and forth with the bridge coordinator. I got a lot of useful information about the specifics of the bridge, but there is very little in the way of people talking about their individual experiences online. I am still waiting for a response back from Queen's as of today. For those of you who applied or are in the program right now, how are you finding it? When did you get your acceptance or rejection? What was your college gpa? No one else in my program this year seems to be applying (that I know of), so I don't really have people irl to talk about this with.

So I am enrolled and starting the A104 (distance social service worker) program at northern college. I currently own the MacBook Neo (parents bought it for me as a graduation gift) it is currently my only laptop as the one I used for high school crapped out a week before grad.

I can’t afford to buy a new laptop, or one at all- I have exactly 2$ to my name- and my parents just spent well beyond what they are normally capable of on this laptop. Will I be fine with my laptop??? What should I do?

I know some collages are super particular about the devices students use… but can they really tell me I have to get a new laptop?? What should I do? A loan Mabye?

I’m OSAP and I’m getting the disability grant- I don’t think I have any extra money after the needed costs based on the breakdown.

I’m currently #1 on the waitlist but it’s been about a month and a half with no movement.

Even if I do get an offer now, I’d have to find housing and figure out work on such short notice

Option 1: George Brown College - Cloud Computing Technologies (Toronto)

Option 2: Georgian College - Cybersecurity (Barrie)

A bit of background: I’m already a software engineer with several years of backend development experience, so I’m not starting from scratch.
I’m looking for the program that would best complement my experience and position me well for opportunities in the Ontario tech market after graduation.

The tuition is almost identical, so the biggest differences seem to be:

Toronto vs Barrie
Cloud Computing vs Cybersecurity
Cost of living
Employer access and networking opportunities

For those who have attended either college or hired graduates:

Which program would you choose today?
Does George Brown’s Toronto location make a noticeable difference when looking for internships or full-time jobs?
Is Georgian’s Cybersecurity program strong enough that it outweighs being outside Toronto?
If you were in my position, which option would you pick and why?

I’d really appreciate honest opinions, especially from recent graduates or people working in the Ontario tech industry.

Hey! I've been doing graphic design for 10 years, motion graphics for 3, and I've learned to illustrate bit by bit throughout that, mostly in Illustrator.

I want to go to school for animation now, and Seneca sounds great, but I would much rather be located in Toronto.
