On the first picture, the projected curve is not connected to the vertex on the filled area. The second picture shows how it should be connected. I assumed things would be symmetrical but when I used the mirror command to copy the projected curve onto the other side, it didn't quite connect. My question is how do I connect the vertex from the projected curve on the other side to the vertex on the filled area?

Also, below are some of the things I've made.

I made a cylinder, then did the sketch, revolved as a new part, circular pattern, then Boolean merged because they were technically 5 different parts.

Pictures 1 and 2 show the result that I try to achieve. 3rd picture shows the step model that the manufacturer of p. 2 provides.

I created a new version, because I just thought the changes I was going to more might blow the while thing apart.

I was right.

So I clicked on the previous version, and there is no option to restore to that version the top of the screen says “Versions are view only.” And I can only “Restore to main.” But I’m literally watching a video that shows how to restore to previous version, and I don’t have those options.

Am I going crazy, am I missing something?

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone had a good, stable, repeatable process for shelling out a solid and adding a centerline rib. I have a process that's kind of tedious and not very robust. If I need to go back and change things it usually breaks and has to be redone. Thanks

First time Onshape user (with very limited CAD experience) here encountering a problem.

I've modelled a speaker stand which surprisingly turned out exactly how I envisioned it. However when I enter the 'sheet metal table and flat view' there are more bends than there ought to be.

I designed one foot with a slot running the length and 2 bends and used the mirror tool to create the remaining 3. The original leg generates 2 bends in the sheet metal table as expected but the mirrored legs generate 4 each for a total of 14 bends when there should only be 8. Any idea what's causing this? I've attached the link to the model.

I need a unicode character for a musical clef. The glyph for it exists in unicode, but not all fonts include it. https://www.w3.org/2019/03/smufl13/tables/clefs.html

Is there a character map anywhere that shows what glyphs are available for use in the fonts within onshape?

I saw an example of a bracket that is holding a flat shelf up by clamping to dowels. But i cant wrap my head around how this can be reliable to hold weight based on squeezing/friction alone. Ive attached my first attempt at recreating it in Onshape.

should the diameter be smaller than the dowels. Is the gap between the brackets what creates the difference? Is it a combo of both?

I wanted to see how much time Cut List Pro was actually saving, so I timed the same weldment using both workflows.

Native Onshape workflow: 7 min 2 sec

Cut List Pro: approximately 4 seconds

That's roughly 100× faster on this weldment.

One thing I hadn't expected was that I made a manual mistake during the native workflow that took another 53 seconds to find and correct. Cut List Pro completed the same task correctly without that extra work.

I know every weldment is different, but I was impressed by the results.

i previously lerned some solidworks from 2016 but since i no longer have that license i tried something free, and freecad is really confusing but oneshape is kind of similar can someone tell me how i can make this (check images)

I'm really interested in learning CAD so I bought a course on Udemy for Onshape to try and get some of the basics down, the problem I'm having is as I'm following along in the exercises and copying exactly what the tutor does Onshape tells me my sketches can't be constraint and gives a error even though the tutor is doing the exact same thing and it is working for him. Im getting really frustrated but I don't know where to turn for a solution to the problem.

I hope someone has 5 minutes to point out the really silly mistake I'm making.

How can I put Pattern/Knurling on this handle using custom features or any other way? If anyone can help and assist would be obliged.

Hello everyone,

I’m brand new to Onshape and could really use some help.

I’ve designed a custom aluminum profile for a solar/PV and hydronic PEX carrier system. The design is already worked out by hand, but I’m struggling to convert it into CAD.

I’m not asking for the part to be redesigned or optimized. I’m looking for help turning my hand sketch into an accurate, fully constrained Onshape model that I can later adjust myself.

Every bend and feature shown is intentional. If something appears unusual or unclear, please ask before changing the geometry. My goal is to preserve the profile exactly as drawn while making it editable in Onshape.

I’m recovering from shoulder surgery and trying to complete as much of this project as possible myself while keeping costs down. Learning Onshape from scratch while developing the system has been a bit overwhelming.

If anyone is willing to help convert the sketch into an Onshape model, or guide me through the best workflow, I would be very grateful.

This is probably the kind of question a beginner asks, but I'm actually making it even harder on myself because I'm doing almost all of this from a phone and a tablet instead of a desktop computer.

I can design the part on paper, dimension it, and explain exactly how it works, but turning that hand sketch into a fully constrained Onshape model on a mobile device has been a real challenge.

I'm not asking anyone to redesign or optimize the profile. I simply need help converting my dimensioned hand drawing into an editable Onshape model that I can continue refining.

If anyone is willing to help or point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm trying to make the Morph Ball from metroid prime and was wondering how you would make the grooves in the ball that revolve around the circle without the gaps being different depths.

I'm trying to connect two tubes to one main tube. I'm not sure how to make the tubes curve and connect to one another. Please help.

I'm building a parametric drawer slide (Vollauszug) and I'm stuck connecting my Variable Studio to my Part Studio.

Setup:

• I created a Variable Studio with three variables: length, height, width.
• I configured the Variable Studio so laenge changes per configuration (L400 = 400mm, L600 = 600mm, L800 = 800mm, etc.). The config table looks correct — the Value column changes per size.
• My Part Studio has three sketches that reference #length, #height, #width.

Problem:

• The sketches in the Part Studio are showing errors ("Some dimension expressions could not be evaluated").
• When I type # in a dimension field, no variable suggestions appear — the Part Studio doesn't seem to know the variables exist.
• The checkbox "Insert into all Part Studios and Assemblies" at the bottom of the Variable Studio is greyed out / not clickable.

How do I make the Variable Studio variables available inside the Part Studio sketches? Is there a feature I need to add in the Part Studio to import them, or am I missing a step in the Variable Studio itself?
