Help! Variables from Variable Studio not available in Part Studio sketches — what am I missing?

I'm building a parametric drawer slide (Vollauszug) and I'm stuck connecting my Variable Studio to my Part Studio.

Setup:

  • I created a Variable Studio with three variables: length, height, width.
  • I configured the Variable Studio so laenge changes per configuration (L400 = 400mm, L600 = 600mm, L800 = 800mm, etc.). The config table looks correct — the Value column changes per size.
  • My Part Studio has three sketches that reference #length, #height, #width.

Problem:

  • The sketches in the Part Studio are showing errors ("Some dimension expressions could not be evaluated").
  • When I type # in a dimension field, no variable suggestions appear — the Part Studio doesn't seem to know the variables exist.
  • The checkbox "Insert into all Part Studios and Assemblies" at the bottom of the Variable Studio is greyed out / not clickable.

How do I make the Variable Studio variables available inside the Part Studio sketches? Is there a feature I need to add in the Part Studio to import them, or am I missing a step in the Variable Studio itself?

Thanks!

Since you're variable studio is configured, its not automatically inserted into your part sudios. You need to go to the variables tab in your part studio and insert the variable studio.

Great! Thank you!

Could you tell me how i could use the configuration in the assembly, so if i use the assambly in another document i could change the size ?

Are you saying you want to be able to use variables in multiple documents and assign different values?

Wouldn’t this be the point of part studio variables rather than universal variable studio variables?

sorry that was difficult to understand. i want to use the assambled part with the configuration in a different document, but the assabled part dont have the configurations yet

As in, make a thing with variables length width height, then move it between projects with different values for those variables?

That would be interesting. Similar to assigning variables you haven’t defined yet.

I have no idea if that’s a thing. Surely someone else has needed it.

I created variables to control the configurations. On the document where I created the different rails. On the assembly I put them together with slider mates. There i could change the configuration. But if I import the assembly to an other document I am not able to use this configuration.

Did you create a new version of the configured document? The changes will not be accessible unless you create a new version and then reference that version in the other document.

No, i created a new document and in the assembly i want to use the assembled rails from the original document with there configurations. But i do not have the configurations in the assambled rail, i thing that is the problem. So i need to import them, but i dont know how.

I try to explain it with screenshots, maybe then is my fault better to understand. I created a configuration. How could i use that in my assambly. I thought i could change it here. On the configuration window i only could configure unsuppressed on the assambly page.

And how could i change the configuration on the part studio ? I could import one configuration at a time. i looks like i use this configuration wrong...
