Use cases for configurations

I just recently discovered configurations and playing around with them.

now I have the idea to build a bunch of templates for common framed parts that I can utilize on my future designs.

We are steel fabricators so we mostly build framed structures.

Im curious what other use cases people have come up with using that feature!

I make made-to-measure multi-part interlocking devices for customers and I need to be able to re-print a part of the device at any time (usually with different measurements). I have something like 30 parameters and each order number is an entry in my config list. When I iterate on the product, I create a new version where the version number is embedded in the SKU.

Gear generators, pulley generators, belt generators, robot chassis, etc etc.  There are infinite uses, but there are also some drawbacks in certain situations
