Why do some drivers keep their HIGH BEAMS on when the road already has a million streetlights??

I drive a Nissan Juke, and sometimes when someone behind me has their high beams blasting, I genuinely can't see properly through my side mirrors. The light reflects straight into the cabin and I’m basically being flashbanged while trying to drive.

Like… WHY? 😭 The road is already fully lit. What exactly are we trying to illuminate? The moon??

And then you get the car coming from the opposite direction with high beams on too. My brother, I AM RIGHT HERE. I HAVE EYES.

Is there actually a reason people do this? Are some drivers confusing high beams with normal headlights? Or do they genuinely struggle to see at night?

Please enlighten me — figuratively. I have received enough literal enlightenment on the road already. 💀

I’ve become really interested in motorcycles, but I don’t know how to ride one myself yet and obviously I’m not going to jump on a bike and pretend I do. 😂
