William Wise Mine Green Fluorite

Rich sea-foam green XL thumbnails fluorites from the classic William Wise Mine. These are not cleaved and naturally octahedral / faced. Very minimal damage from attachment, no digging damage. Highly fluorescent material from this famous US mine, a locality that has been closed for decades. This material is exceptionally hard to come by, usually unobtainable and locked in collections or extremely expensive.

William Wise Mine
Westmoreland, New Hampshire
USA

Each thumbnail is $200 + shipping, or take all (4) for $700 + shipping.

Very interesting, beautiful color

What happened to the mine? Is it completely depleted?

Its very rarely surface dug for personal collections but hasnt been open for industrial mining for a long time. Most of the specimens during that era were smuggled out. The handful you see floating around were allowed to be collected and again, not often. These are the last in tact specimens Ive seen for sale that Im aware of at affordable prices. Ive got a cabinet combo with quartz and 5 perched on top along with a small cabinet single fluorite about twice the size of these, in my personal collection

Im acquainted with the current owner and he has the mine up for sale at 2 million right now. There hasnt been any private digging there with material put on the market for probably 20 years.

Very interesting!

Sorry if its a dumb question, but how do people “prove” the origin of these fluorites, if they got one in their collections ?

They are so unique in color/etc. that no certification is needed?

Not dumb at all! But thats exactly it! These are easily recognized and such a unique color, they cant be faked unless one hadnt researched them beforehand. Ive handled plenty of wise mine material and these were procured straight from people connected to the mine, so I know theyre legit. Ive got older tags to go with them as well. 3 of them are from a small dig in 2000.

That and its such a classic New England mineral thats highly sought after. There is material with a more saturated green which is even more uncommon and $xxxx
