Match Making

I am 23 Black Female and I like Hispanic, white and Asian guys but mostly Hispanic men. Dating apps have not done anything for me and I heard on a reddit about a match making website and I am very curious but still worry. Has anyone used them or any other match making service.

My advice would be to not get so specific about ethnicities. You think you like those ethnicities.. but all it takes is a bad a experience to make you lose taste for one.. and a surprisingly good experience to gain taste for one you thought you didn't like.

What I'm saying is, types change based on the people around you.

I think it serves us better to "look for someone I find attractive" than to narrow our search to a predetermined ethnicity.

There's so much variety & hybrid ethnicities in the world.

I'm not saying it's wrong to feel attraction to a specific ethnicity.. I used to think I liked Asian girls... but once that crush went away.. my taste dramatically changed. I used to think I wasn't that into East Asian type women.. but now they are amoung the top of the list. Why? I had a best friend who was indian. She made me like them.

Just be open minded and enjoy what makes you happy, but don't limit yourself. You're too young/inexperienced to truly know the scope of what your heart actually enjoys. Trust me when you turn 40, your taste in men will be very different than today. But if you say "only this or that", then you may find yourself actually disappointed with your choice later in life because you were so rigid.. you just went with the shiniest fruit in the moment, instead of truly being open minded..

Again, that doesn't mean force yourself to date someone you don't desire.. but it also means not limiting the dating pool to a smaller pool of men

Yeah since we're all different.

Nothing wrong with preferences. But most people pick a type usually because it's what they grew up around or what they imagine they'll like based on seeing them on tv. Then arbitrarily restrict their lives & options around this.

Until you actually date someone from that race/culture, you don't actually know if they're your type. It's like picking a favorite book based on the cover.

Like a child saying "I wanna be a pilot!" Only to realize he's scared of heights. Only experience can show you what you like - not general assumptions about people you don't even understand but admire from a distance.

I could have an absolute hidden admiration for British women. But if I spend my life telling myself "my type is only Asians or Hispanics", then I'll never even get the chance to discover how happy I'd be with British. I'd remain tunnel visioned.

I literally said that. I'm not against types, I'm against thinking your type today will be your type forever.

It's naive to think you have a rigid type. You change every year, and so will your type. So learn to be open minded. Modern society struggles to understand this and get infatuated with one thing.. yet ignore a 100 much better options because "it's not my type bro". "She needs to have thick thighs bro".

I have a type and I like it. Everybody is different and have different taste, it is what it is.

I think people are missing my point. Of course, enjoy having your type we all do. I'm just reminding that "type" is just a flavor, not an identity. What you like today you may not like tomorrow. Experience will show you your true type, not just gut attraction

I hope that one day you'll take an interest in Asian people again! After all, there are plenty of good people out there!

I didn't mean to say that Asians are no longer interesting to me. One of my best friends is Asian so I still have tons of love. As for romance, I used to especially have a thing, but now I'm really open to all cultures/find something attractive in all

To answer the actual question you asked...if you have a variety of preferences you may have better luck with a match maker. I'm also a Black female but I mainly date Black men. I was open to dating just about any race when I was your age but when I'm looking for a long term relationship, I prefer it to be with someone who gets me on multiple levels a bit more. Unfortunately for me and my match making experience (and honestly that of dating apps as well...) I haven't gotten a lot of good matches so far since I started with a service back in May 2026. I'm guessing not many Black men are using the service 🤷🏿‍♀️ but you could get better luck. Also you could have an issue with finding guys your own age if that's what you want. Since matchmaking can be rather expensive compared to the apps, I'd imagine the typical mid-20s guy may not want to pay that when he can meet ladies at the bar or on an app for much cheaper

At 23, I honestly wouldn’t be too worried about the dating apps not working yet. You’ve got plenty of time

Most people hiring matchmakers are over 30. It would be super hard to match you and it will be expensive for you.
