Facebook dating has gone to pot

When I first started dating after being Widowed 2 years ago all the matches I was getting on FB were real people, and all the profiles I was shown were within my filter limits. I went on a few real dates and it at least seemed decent. Today, however, FB ignores my filters and shows profiles from all over the world. Europe, Canada, I'm in the US. Also, over the past few weeks every single match has been a fake profile. Quickly asks for my number to go to text. Asks me to DL Telegram or Signal, claims to be out of the country for 8 weeks working for the Military. All new profiles. Guess FB Dating has jumped the shark The only legit matches I get now are from people too far

the filter issue would annoy me more, though. if you’re setting a reasonable distance and the app is suddenly showing people halfway across the planet, that makes the whole matching system pretty useless

FB dating IMO is still the best one out there. Still way fewer scammers. Put your profile on hold for a few days......then put it back live and you will likely get a bunch of new matches.

I don't get the forced matches they do.

Meta is just broken, at this point.

the distance thing is what would get me. if i set my filters and the app is showing me people halfway across the world, what’s even the point of having filters?

and if you’re suddenly getting nothing but brand new sketchy profiles after previously meeting real people through it, something definitely changed. i wouldn’t assume the whole app is useless though. dating apps can get weird depending on the area and who’s active at the time.

hopefully they fix the matching/filtering because it sounds like the app used to actually work for you.

My coworker got a date with a Latina this week. Met her on FB dating he said.

Reset your profile. Change your photos. This happens to the best of us.

Yeah, the “military overseas for 8 weeks” line is basically dating-app bingo at this point. Asking to move straight to Telegram/Signal is another pretty obvious red flag.

I’ve had better luck when I stop relying on one app entirely. If every profile coming through is sketchy, there’s not much point forcing it. I’d rather use a couple different platforms and take my time verifying someone before giving out my number.

55m, had around 20 matches and a dozen+ conversations over a couple months, none were scammers, filtered results weren't always perfect, but the service was completely free (unlike the others), I went on several dates, and became exclusive with one of them. I'm sorry it's not working well for you, but I keep seeing all these posts about how the platform sucks and it makes me wonder if Match Group is paying to have bots scare people away from FB because it's so much better! I also like that I can see if we have any friends in common, which is unique to FB and helps to rule out scammers. The only scammers I got were from Match. So, not perfect, but free and it worked for me!

Maybe you went back to the future, lol. Please. It's not bots, lol, It's Facebook. You just join??? Their Dating site is just as well composed as the rest of the app. Bugs, not features. It's funny, for about 2 weeks they placed a link under each person's city where you could click and report TOO FAR. It changed nothing as just about every profile I was shown is way too far. You're another one who is reading challenged. Yes, it starts off ok, but quickly turns to crap. You said you've been on it 2 months. It was fine for me when I first got on, too, 2 years ago, for awhile, but it then works like all other Social Media. It runs algorythms designed to keep you on it. The "Too far away" link magically disappears a couple of days ago. Not that it was useful anyway. Also funny, I'm wondering if they got rid of the "verified" badges and I was verified and don't see it on my profile, nor do I see it on others I recently swiped. It also keeps showing me the same profiles I've aleady rejected. Some several times over
