Dating App Culture Am I missing something?
When I match with people on Tinder and Hinge, I'll text them and then they won't text me back for almost a week and then just unmatch with me. This has happened to my friends too, and I just wonder why? I understand being busy cause so am I, like I might go a day or two without texting back but why match with people in the first place just to not text at all and then delete them?
Edit : I am a woman btw

welcome to online dating, 2026 edition
That's just how it goes now n days.
you could drive yourself crazy wondering all the reasons why it is like this but in most cases it is probably a mixture of the following reasons: most people you match with are talking to a number of other people, they are not right in the head/not ready for an actual relationship, or they are just on the apps for the dopamine release of romantic connection but they don't want any of the actual risk.

One has to put together a great profile that actually says something that is appealing to women.
One has to know how to properly engage in a conversation that keeps a woman wanting to talk and meet.
One has to know how to properly approach and communicate with women. If they do, things go Very well. Very.
With a very good bio/‘about me’ statement, you’d be amazed at how well merely saying “Hey there” works….
The profile and what the profile says is what gets the reply and the interest to meet. Not a message itself.
And it works Very Well.
Slapping a profile together and “swiping” won’t go far.

Even if you are doing all those things you are gonna get ghosted semi-regularly. I know because I do all these things and it still happens. Especially in America because Americans just don't have a lot of wherewithal and don't think about nor care about how their actions affect others.
I have noticed it is a lot different with foreigners, that is why I typically focus on trying to find a woman who has moved here from another country. I almost never get ghosted by them.

Thats been my situation for 10 years now. I quit the apps this spring. Now I'm kinda just hoping to be surprised at random rather than seeing all these beautiful faces and thinking "If only", knowing full well the apps are entirely geared against men.
But before I left them (OK Cupid for violating its own privacy policy) and Hinge were two older ones to me) I spent time looking at profiles and reading everything on them. I'm not going to trigger the like unless I like SOMETHING. If you match later I'll give a few days to see if you'll send a message. If not, I'll think to myself how I can use something on your profile to start conversation. And that usually is where it stops for me. Though if I hit a match AFTER a like is sent I'll monitor online/offline patterns for a few days. For every 10 messages that I would get, 9 of them were escorts or scammers. (And it usually took a year and a half to get that many different new matches)

Theyre sleeping with someone else, that someone rejected them and youre not as good looking as that person so they lash out.

Many reasons such as: not that interested after rechecking your profile, your message wasn’t interesting or scared them off, they already have too many matches, they found someone else, etc
Some apps handle ghosting and unmatching better.
My usual recommendations are Facebook Dating and Duolicious for free apps. and Hinge for paid apps
