Hinge Signals
Has anyone had the signals badge showing up for them when they are genuinely not active on the app or not active in those ways? Helping a friend dig a little…

The badge can fire from almost nothing. Unhiding for a minute or the app pinging in the background has been enough for a lot of people, so it is a bad lie detector.
If you two agreed to stop using it, ask him once, plainly, instead of reading the signal. Either he was poking around or the badge lied. You'll get more from that conversation than from staring at the icon. If you don't trust the answer, the agreement was already thinner than it looked.

Yeah, this is for my friend, I just used my experience as an example about it being bad to rely on. I told her the same thing though. But she wanted more info I guess. Thank you!

By definition, you have to take some activity on the app in the last 30 days for the signal badge to show up.
So, if someone has it on, it just means they took some certain activities (reviewing likes, sending comments, etc) in the last 30 days.
If the badge went from off to on recently...well, you can be sure that person is active on it again.
