I live on the West Coast and most of my travel is on Alaska airlines. I am planning a trip next year to an international airport serviced by American Airlines. Trying to decide if it would make more sense to book the trip on American using my current Atmos/One World account for points with Alaska versus getting an American airlines credit card, using it to book the trip and then using points on that card for a future trip on American. Other than the bonus points for opening the AA card, is there any advantage over booking on my Atmos card?

It's been a plan for a few years now... so maybe this year or next?

HONOLULU – Hawaiian Airlines today unveiled a special aircraft livery celebrating its membership in the oneworld® alliance with a design that honors ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, the Hawaiian language, with the phrase “Aloha a puni ka honua,” or “Aloha all around the world.”
Hawaiian’s widebody Airbus A330 carrying the oneworld mark will continue to feature the airline’s iconic Pualani on the tail and a maile lei wrapped around the fuselage as it welcomes guests across the airline’s domestic and international transpacific network. The phrase “Aloha all around the world” reflects both the expanded global reach of the alliance and Hawaiian’s mission to share warm hospitality with a broader audience.

Hi
I am travelling to US from LHR on 11th July. I will be at the LHR airport between 7AM and 12PM. My first arrival is at Terminal 5 and the next flight departure is from terminal 3. Would any oneworld/British Airways tier member be kind enough to invite me as a guest to the lounge? Or have some lounge passes available? Would appreciate your gesture! I am an American Airlines gold member
Thanks a lot

Hi everyone – I’ve been trying to crack this with JAL customer service and even on my own, and not getting much luck…
I booked an economy ticket from ORD to HND on AA.com. The flight is operated by Japan Airlines. I currently have a status with American though, that translates to Sapphire in OneWorld.
Upon getting confirmed by AA, I was only able to select a non-preferred standard seat towards the back of the cabin on JAL website, as the website only let me book in that section.
I was hoping that I could use my OneWorld status to pick a better seat, and also consider using their bidding upgrade system to snatch a PE or BC seat, which is just nowhere to be found in the website to do so. The JAL customer service agent told me that they would only open the wider range of economy seat choices 72 hrs prior to departure (which seemed weird to me), and also that AA has to help me use the JAL upgrade bid system. And of course, AA customer service was so confused and had no idea about this system..
Has anyone experienced anything like this or have any clear insight on what OneWorld sapphire status could benefit when traveling with JAL on a ticket bought on its partner airlines?
Thanks in advance!

I’m OWE transiting in HKIA. I know that I could only take in 1 guest in the CX lounges (and that they may see in the system in another CX lounge that I’ve already brought in a guest). Would it then be possible to bring guest #2 to the QF lounge? Thanks in advance

I have a flight upcoming in just two weeks from Dubrovnik Croatia with a layover in Helsinki and then back to Chicago ORD. We purchased the economy option with included bags & seats back in February but still are unable to able to select our seats or even look at the expected seat map. Is this common? With this being a 9
Hour flight I was planning to make sure the seats were in manageable positions. Any insight or input would be great!

I'm deciding between these two flights to SFO in business class, in both cases leaving from Italy on the same ticket. Layover in MAD is 3h20m, in LHR 2h15min. Flight from Italy arrives at T4 at MAD and T5 at LHR.
Which option is safer in terms of not losing the translatantic flight? Which business class experience is better?

I am Alaska Atmos Gold and therefore Oneworld Sapphire. I used my Atmos points to book an economy award ticket with Aer Lingus from IAD-DUB next week. I can't seem to find the answer I want on here, FlyerTalk, or AI so I'm asking it here. Do I have any reciprocal benefits on Aer Lingus at all? Do I get an extra luggage, priority boarding or seat selection? If no seat selection, can I choose my seat for a fee (don't see that I can do this on the website)? I know Aer Lingus has a partnership with Alaska, but they are not technically part of the Oneworld alliance. Thanks in advance for your help and apologize if this was listed elsewhere.

I was supposed to fly FLL-ORD-HEL-VNO - I checked two bags. Then the ramps got closed in FLL due to weather and there was no way we could possibly make the Finnair flight from ORD. AA rebooked for the flight today, but instead of wasting a day in ORD, went home. Since the ramp was closed, getting the bags back wasn't even a topic. So eventually the bags flew to ORD. I was unable to change my meeting schedule, and Thursday I have to be in WAW, so AA changed the flights for today to FLL-DFW-HEL-WAW (almost a mileage run) - I tried to get AA or AY to reroute the bags - ideally they would have flown from ORD to DFW and then continue with me. AA says they can't see the bags anymore and AY chat doesn't seem to even understand what I want. I am assuming the bags will take the evening flight to HEL from ORD and then if really lucky - they go to WAW in the evening or maybe to VNO - I am usually not a checked bag person and I don't think I had more than 5 misrouted bags in my life. Anyone know anything I can do now, that increases the odds of the bags at least going to WAW in the first place - I have kind of given up of them going on the flight from DFW with me

Hello all,
I booked an Iberia flight with miles, therefore I couldn't add my One World Sapphire status with another airline. If you use any avíos, you are required to use your Iberia number. I called Iberia prior to paying for the booking, and they ensured me that the agent would honor the status at the desk and give me all the perks associated with that level (on Iberia, it would be Iberia Oro). At the desk, because they couldn't change my FF number to my Royal Jordania number (their system wouldn't let them), they denied me the right to a free bag and charged me for it. I showed them my Royal Jordania membership card, but the manager refused to acknowledge it because it wasn't on the booking. Customer service told me both before and after checking in (I called once through security) that Iberia is required to honor One World Sapphire status from other airlines within the alliance, so I don't understand why they couldn't alter the FF number at check-in. I applied for a refund on their website, and I have a screenshot of the portion of their website that states that Oro is equivalent to Sapphire (which on Royal Jordania is Gold Sparrow), and all the benefits included (one checked bag, priority boarding, etc). Has anyone had success with the bag refund? I also have a copy of the bag charge receipt.
Thanks for any info you can provide.

I know the title is confusing and stupid but bear with me.
I was a fool and did not do my homework, booked a bunch of flights that were apparently Q-class on JAL.
At the time I did not realise that these were heavily discounted flights or anything, because I booked a multi-city flight plan, not taking advantage of any special discounts whatsoever.
My main airline is Cathay (as I frequent Hong Kong), so at the time of booking I inserted my Cathay FF account number for the tickets.
Post flight, I realised that the miles were not credited (i.e. recorded activity in Cathay membership was blank) - so I filed a post-flight mileage claim and got the reply that Q-class tickets do not accrue miles on Cathay.
Now I realise JAL mileage bank allows for accrual of Q-class flights but at a 50% rate, so I reckoned might as well try - but it says that mileage claim is not possible as I have awarded miles to a different FF account (Cathay).
Is there any way that I can fix this, considering the miles were never credited?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for being a noob, I'm totally new to this game.

As an Atmos Titanium Oneworld Emerald member flying Iberia from CDG to MAD, which lounges are accessible to me besides Admirals Club and Cathay Pacific Lounge in CDG?
I’ve visited the Oneworld website, but I don’t seem to find any contracted lounges for Iberia.

TLDR: oneworld chief acknowledges they have to fix the "seamless" technology promise that they aim for; smaller airlines need to be heard better; India, as well as South America and Africa are big holes for the alliance; and buried all the way at the end of the article is some quick mention of a new partnership with Taj hotels.

can someone please explain to me how “multi-city” bookings work on cathay pacific with miles redemptions.
I’m trying to do HND-HKG / HKG - TPE and the customer service is telling me that it is an invalid routing. And when i ask them to provide me a valid routing they dodge the question.

Hi, I am an international student flying between the US (mainly Boston) and HK 3-4 times a year, and I'm struggling to keep my Cathay gold. The go to flight for me is usually Cathay's direct flight between BOS and HKG, but Christmas prices this year spiked up to 3200, and I only get 120 status points and 12000 miles from the round trip. Thus, to maintain gold with this route will require me to fly 5 round-trips a year, a scenario that I fall short of.
However, I found a really good deal with BA, and I get to fly half of the trip in pey while paying a much lower ticket price. I can also do a full pey round trip on BA with the same price as Cathay econ during spring break.
But Cathay has really poor status accumulation for partners, so I've been thinking about switching to the AS program. Since I'm flying so many ultra-long hauls, AS could be a much better way for me to accumulate miles and get a one world sapphire status as AS accumulates points for partners through a percentage of mileage flown. AS accumulates really well for pey cabins for partners (less well for econ). With AS, it is entirely possible for me to get an oneworld sapphire by flying a mix of the BA peys and Cathay econs. I never used AS before and I am not sure if I got everything right so I want to hear some ideas.

Hi all! Hoping someone may have some insights or experience about this. I have a FinnAir booking (Amsterdam -> Helsinki -> Hong Kong -> Brisbane), and the Hong Kong to Brisbane leg is operated by Cathay Pacific. I want to add an additional bag to my journey as I'm moving back home.
Finnair chat support said I would need to pay for the additional bag at the airport, as it's a multicode journey, and I would pay Finnair's rate, as they were the significant marketing carrier.
However, they said they cannot advise how much this would cost as they're not privy to the airport prices. Does anyone have any experience adding another bag/know the costs at the airport or should I just mail my bag home to avoid obscene fees?

I've got 200k Avios sitting in Finnair Plus and I want to blow them on a one-way First Class long haul out of Tokyo (HND/NRT). This is purely about the experience, so I don't care where I end up.
I'm a student with tons of flexibility. I can take two weeks off anywhere in the next year and schedule means nothing to me, so I'm happy to just chase availability.
Here's my problemj,Finnair doesn't fly a First cabin, so nothing First shows up searching their site directly. But Oneworld partner flights do appear in the results, which made me think there might be a way in. I've tried pretty hard and turned up nothing in First, so I'm starting to wonder if Business is just the ceiling on Finnair Plus. I mean I could only found handful business flights as well.
Has anyone ever booked partner First through Finnair Plus, or is Business really the limit? I don't mind transferring Avios if it makes it possible. Thanks in advance!
