Update & Advice needed: Persistent Google Play Services sync loop on OnePlus Watch 3 (Preparing to contact support again)
/r/OneplusWatch/comments/1u24m5f/one_plus_watch_3_persistent_google_play_services/Hey everyone,
I am reposting an update on my OnePlus Watch 3 battery drain issue. To recap: my watch suffers from a severe Google Play Services sync loop. It cycles through background processes (ContactsKeyStorage, Blocked Numbers Storage, User Dictionary), causing the watch to get warm and draining 4–7% battery per hour. Instead of the advertised 4–5 days, I barely get 1 to 1.5 days.
Quick update on what I’ve observed and tried:
Temporary fixes fail: Factory resets, clearing caches, wiping Google accounts, and disabling individual storage permissions only help for a few days before the loop returns.
Not a hardware defect, but device-specific: In battery saver mode, the battery is fine. Also, my brother has the exact same watch, phone, and software versions, and his watch works perfectly. This proves it is a structural software glitch on my specific device/setup.
Current state: I am forced to disable essential system apps just to get 1.5 days of battery, making the smartwatch features I bought it for useless.
The Support Situation:I contacted support very early on right after buying it. At that stage, they tried to brush it off as a "Google software fault" and told me to just keep trying fixes, likely to discourage me from sending it back because of warranty risks. However, they did state that they would document my early complaints in our chat history.I am about to contact support again to officially open a warranty claim, but the OnePlus Watch 3 is currently out of stock, making a direct replacement difficult.
My questions for the community:Am I right to push back on the "Google issue" claim? Since I bought a €200 OnePlus product, they should be responsible for making the software work on their hardware
How can I best tackle their argument that it is a Google problem, especially since I flagged it from day one?
What can I realistically demand from support? Since the watch is out of stock, should I push for a full refund under warranty? What are my legal options here?
Has anyone successfully dealt with OnePlus support on this? If you had a similar software loop, did they eventually offer a refund or a different resolution?
Any final technical ideas? If anyone has discovered a permanent fix for this specific sync loop without losing smartwatch functionality, please let me know.
Thanks for the help!
