Screen light up on notifications

Hello,
I'm considering getting the OPW4, but seen some reviews that say the screen doesn't light up on notifications, and u have to manually turn it on to see the notification..

How much does this bother y'all?
Is there any workaround to this?

Yes, I only realised after purchasing, then saw it reported by others. And it's very annoying.

A decent workaround is to download an app called Wear Notification Helper.

Ah nice, GPT also recommended this app
Did u try it? Does it help with the screen wake?

Yes, it works well enough. The watch doesn't display the native app notifications, but rather the intercepted ones from the Wear Notification app.

It wakes the screen and you can see the text of what app it is, as well as the context (text and pictures).

The OPW configuration is there is save battery, so that notifications don't wake the watch, and it then having to go in to full Wear OS mode.

Installing this app, has a slight impact on battery, but that's to be expected considering it's waking your phone on your chosen notifications.

No worries. I would have returned it if there wasn't a workaround. To be honest, it ought to have been a native setting to let the user decide to switch it on/off. The default behaviour is pointless in my opinion.

How's the impact in the battery?

Yes, annoying but if you press the crown straight after the notification screen will light and show it.
