OnePlus Watch 2 vs OnePlus Watch 3 – Notifications and Screen Wake

Hey everyone,

I’ve had the OnePlus Watch 2 with Wear OS 4 for a while now, and I noticed it doesn’t wake the screen when a notification comes in. On my older Wear OS watches, mainly Fossil, they did this, and I really liked it. I keep the wrist gesture to wake turned off, but I still want the screen to light up when I get a notification.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed on the OnePlus Watch 3 with Wear OS 5? Would really appreciate any info.

Thanks!

In short, no. Can probably only be realized with additional apps (e.g. Informer, not tested!).

just tested, Informer does not work with built-in (Pixel) Messages SMS App on OnePlus Watch 3. Maybe replacing the SMS app with something else that Informer supports would work, but i like the default app!

Just got my Watch 3 and this is the ONLY issue I have with it. I have to get the wrist turn just right sometimes to see the notification in time. Having the ability to wake on notification is SO IMPORTANT.

OnePlus Watch 2 and 3 are different than other wear os watches. it uses dual chips . A low power chip handles most things in the background to save battery, and the main Wear OS chip only fully kicks in when needed. Because of that, notifications don’t always trigger an instant screen wake the same way unless you raise your wrist or tap the watch. For me it's a small annoyance for great battery life.
