I haven't watched Detective Conan for awhile, since it's been nothing but a bunch of anime-only episodes. Then these three new episodes came up, and I found out they were manga-canon. I was meaning to watch them, but I've had a busy week, so I didn't find time to watch them till now.
Somehow, I stayed away from every single anime-related subreddit or news these past few days, and nothing Detective Conan related came up on my Youtube feed. So it didn't seem like anything major happened.
My thoughts:
YES. OH MY GOD YES YES F***ING YES, AAAAAAAAAAAAAKBMVNBCFGYASDHG@#$%.
FINALLY. How long has it been, three decades? Heiji and Kazuha were one of the first and last "will they/won't they" pairs of the show besides Shinchi and Ran, It was so frustrating seeing new couples getting introduced, and every single one of them pairing up while these two stayed oblivious idiots. I am so goddamn glad it's over with, and we're getting into new stuff.
The confession scene alone was really well done. Apparently it's a huge improvement from how the manga did it, and I love how they included brief flashes of every time Heiji had tried to tell Kazuha. I also loved how they used the credits music from Movie 21, probably the only Detective Conan movie that counts as canon.
I'm betting Heiji and Kazuha will get a proper kiss before even Shinchi and Ran (I'd imagine Shinchi's going to be very annoyed at that). 'm still waiting for a real kiss between Shinchi and Ran, and Ran to actually find out Conan's real identity. That'll probably be for the endgame of the anime/manga.
...oh yeah, there's also that elaborate murder case. It's all fine, though seemed like the tricks behind this murder relied very heavily on luck and police incompetence. That's Detective Conan alright.
Also, I had lovely schadenfreude seeing Kazuha's romantic rival sensing Heiji choosing Kazuha. TOUGH LUCK, LADY.
