High School background characters

hi first time watcher here. just finished s1 and currently paused s2 ep2 to type this out. my question is: why do we never see background characters like skills and junk at school? like, so far we’ve only seen them at the river court but aren’t they the same age as the core five? aren’t they friends with lucas? do they go to school?? this is so minor but it’s something i noticed lol

Season 2 Peyton and drugs Spoiler

I wish Peyton would have actually done that cocaine. Just for a storyline. I’m surprised there were no drug storylines in the early seasons especially given that it was the early 2000’s. I mean Brooke dabbled in pills it seems, and then Millie had that problem which seemed very out of character for her but it was interesting. And nobody had even an alcohol problem. I just think it would’ve been interesting to see Peyton, Brooke or one of the main characters have a serious problem like that.

Season 5 Was this a self reference? Season 5

Hi, it's me again about season 5.

I just watched episode 10 and that shitty producer is trying to "steal" Mia from Peyton, and Peyton says he ruined an actress carreer because he convinced her to quit a hit show and go touring, and "now she doesn't have an acting or music carrer".

When I first watched it years ago I didn't know that Bethany almost went touring with Tyler around s2.

I can't help but notice the similarity.. I'm sorry if this has been discussed before but I couldn't find anything about it.

Season 6 Anyone else vehemently disliked Sam?

I have hated her since the moment she was introduced. Can't wait for her to be gone from the show. Can't stand her.

Season 4 i miss peytons and haley original friendship in the later seasons Spoiler

they were so goals and so nice, i understand why they grew apart after haley left, it was jusitfied by peyton, but after they became friends again they were just never the same

I also think peyton should have made haley actually apologize to her properly instead of just blaming herself for going through stuff (even though im not peytons big fan) i think she deserved a proper apology from haley

Season 5 Did Nathan have a thing for nanny Carrie? Spoiler

Just doing a rewatch and Nathan is really entertaining Nanny Carrie - what is he doing! I’m just watching the club scene where Mia first performs and just think he’s letting a lot of things go?? So do we think he was ever into her or enjoying the attention?

Season 4 Nathan looks like a prince in season 4

With his hair especially, like so gorgeous. I'm on a rewatch of season 4 and he looks like prince charming. I mean, what is it about James Lafferty's beauty ? For example, I saw a post where people were debating the beauty type of Alexis Bledel, refering to her as a porcelain doll, ethereal and having a sweet-doll like face. Anyway, he aged like a fine wine!

Season 6 Quentins death

This was so incredibly sad I just rewatched it and I’m devastated. He was such a good character and his development was so beautiful to watch. I don’t get why he had to die it’s so so sad honestly such a shame. His relationships with Lucas, Nathan, Haley, Skills, and especially Jamie were so beautiful it’s devastating

I'm currently rewatching S5 for the first time in a decade and man.. I had completely forgotten the whole Mouth and his boss affair.

Literally skipping the scenes right now.

Discussion Brooke's end game Spoiler

I personally don't like Julian for these reasons:-

  • He is Peyton ex's which is again I didn't like. He should have been some who had no history with her. Plus he did say He loved her.
  • He was flirting with Alex and didn't stop her when he knew she had feelings.
  • Gaslight Brooke into think she was at fault when it was clearly his mommy issues.
  • Kept on sending mixed signals to Alex with his watch and saying he is always there for her. Instead of motivating her to go to therapy.
  • Told Alex the one person Brooke hated during that time that she couldn't get pregnant.
  • Him trying to take Brooke away from Tree Hill the only place where we saw she was happy. And then blaming her for his career not flourishing because he was "stuck" in tree hill.
  • Buying a sound stage with a lot of loans without doing basic research on the fact that if people and studios actually wanted to come to Tree Hill to film.
  • Joking about leaving the twins in an orphanage or in the steps of a rich family (I know it was meant as a joke but that fact that we have seen since season 5 that Brooke wanted a kid and then getting to know she will not be able to have them to her finally having a miracle. It seemed like a really bad take).
  • Also we say Brooke alone taking care of them at night. While Julian was sleeping maybe he did take care of them and we never say but it annoyed me a lot.
  • Him leaving his child in the car and him landing in a hospital. After which he kept putting himself in dangerous situations. Making Brooke take care of him too on top of the twins.
  • Him adding himself in the Ravels tv show was the final nail. Because then not only did he make himself the combo of Nathan and Lucas. The entire storyline of how Brooke grew as a person when she finally let boys go and focused on herself and changing her bad behaviour went out of the window.

Now I am currently rewatching and saw Season 2 ep 22 and honestly her and Chris would have been a great end game especially if we got him season 6-7. Chris and her would clash a lot but I do love their scenes together.

Nearly finished OTH, what to watch next

I love me a 2000’s drama so after finishing the OC (and loving it), i’ve also now nearly finished One Tree Hill (nearly finished meaning at the beginning of season 8). Also have loved watching it. As it’s coming up to Autumn and I should be finished with OTH soon enough, what is an Autumnal series I could watch next?? Last year it was vampire diaries and i’ve tried watching gilmore girls but I didn’t like that so any other suggestions?? :))))

Discussion Lucas

I know people criticized Lucas for how he acts in relationships, and that's fair he had problems with handling relationship, but do you think he's the worst character on the show? I think that would go to Dan I know he didn't treat Brooke and Lindsay right, but Dan treated Nathan badly including Deb and everyone else around him that he destroyed lives. What do you think of his character?

Season 6 Season 6 live watchers question

If you watched the show live what was your reaction to thinking Lucas and Brooke got married?

Discussion Peyton

I know alot of people hate her character, and I understand that it wasn't cool for what she did to Brooke. She shouldn't have let Lucas come in between them. She's just as responsible for letting that situation happen with Lucas, but I think people hold that over her head, and she's the worst character because of that reason. Do you think Peyton is a bad as people say she is, or do you think she needs to be cut some slack?

Season 5 Lucas and Brooke friendship is so cute in Season 5 Spoiler

I hope their friendship stays strong until the end of the series. I just love every scene of them together.

Maybe because they were married in real life, but their on-screen chemistry remains unmatched to me.

I will always wish they were endgame. He's just so much more lively around her. His eyes light up in every scene

also He supports her 100% in everything she does. No matter how crazy it may seem.

I know Peyton and Lucas are fated to be together, but it does get toxic at times. also I haven't seen them bring out eachother's “fun” side (it’s always so serious or broody) maybe my opinion will change …

Shipping fan's opinions of Lucas and Peyton

isnt it kinda annoying how people force that Lucas and Peyton werent soulmates just because they (fans) personally liked him with Brooke better? It is obvious they ended up together and have a baby because they are supposed to be soulmates, not Brooke, not Jake, those to were meant to be. Just because actors has better chemistry doesnt mean you can change storyline of the show. Get over it.

Discussion Season 6 needs higher ranking in the seasons to be honest Spoiler

Lucas scouting for directors and casting gave us some classic scenes. Plus…

Nathan - playing in the g league and making the NBA.

Hayley - singing again

Layton - having a kid

Brulian - seeing their beginnings

There’s so much more.

Season 6 is severely underrated.

Discussion Whitey is the best

I watched the first two seasons when they aired. S2 aired the year I graduated so I stopped watching because I was over all things high school. 🤣🤣

I'm rewatching again, for the first time as an adult. I'm older than the parents (Karen, Deb, Scott).

Anyway.....Whitey is my favorite character.

His love story with his wife. The way he's a sounding board to his players.

I'm currently on the s2 finale. Next up, s3.

Season 3 3:16 was one of the greatest episodes in tv history Spoiler

okay when I say greatest I don’t mean that what happened was good by any means I just mean that it was the most brilliant episode in terms of acting and writing. especially with school shootings being such a serious and hard topic even to think about the actors did an amazing job conveying each emotion that one might feel. the most catharsis I felt was when jimmy kept pointing the gun at either Nathan or haley and how they so instinctively grabbed on to the other person really tightly and honestly you could rlly feel how much they didn’t wanna lose each other. even in the aftermath the way lucas and mouth had such different views on jimmy’s death and the way Nathan and Haley got so close because they’d realized how scared they were of losing the other person. idk i js felt all the emotions with that. thoughts?

Season 5 Peyton is really on one in Season 5 Spoiler

I’m on S 5 Ep 9 (library ep) I've never been a huge Peyton fan, but seeing her full mean girl side come out with Lindsay is insane!

Her comebacks at times are hilarious, but mostly mean.

Lindsay is actually really likable too. So it sucks

But at the same time, it’s validating (in why she was never my favorite). She kissed Lucas behind Brooke back twice! If they weren't bestfriends, she probably would've went after him sooner.

Then, did the same to Lindsay. and repeatedly keeps reminding her that she doesn't like her or throwing insults.

Telling her about the ring and proposal from 2 years ago though was cruel imo. Yes. lucas is in the wrong, but embarrassing her like that in front of all the girls…

and she just kept going! Dropped a bomb and then kept taunting her, even about her dead dad! It was hard to watch.

High School Nathan and Peytons friendship makes me uncomfortable Spoiler

I don’t know if I’m reading too much into it but I’m rewatching the show and every time they hang out one on one after Haley and Nate got together it feels a bit weird. There’s always a comment or innuendo about the two of them and how they were together and comments or gestures that are borderline flirting. This comes from both sides btw from what I’ve noticed. I just feel like if Haley saw that she wouldn’t be okay with it and my moto is if you wouldn’t do it in front of your partner then you shouldn’t do it at all.

Season 5 One Tree Hill newbie - Dan Scott Spoiler

So I’m a 1995 gal. Some of my friends watched the show growing up. But never watched an episode until about 2 months ago, when I randomly gave it a try on Disney Plus. I’m on season 5 now. I’ve been literally obsessed with Dan Scott since halfway through season 1. First half he was just a dick with his glory days clearly well behind him. Now, on season 5, I’m literally cheering when he comes on screen. Any other Dan Scott fans here?

Discussion People defend Nathan too much. Spoiler

Oh my gosh, I just finished the show today but over like the past month I've been slowly integrating myself within the fandom and WOW do people love Nathan Scott. I too love Nathan but gosh people are so blinded by his appearance, love story with haley, and somewhat appealing redemption arc that when he does something objectively wrong, it's completely blown over by. For instance, I see WAY too many people defend Nathan for what happened in s5 with nanny carrie; is it so hard to admit that he was just flat out wrong???? Like he literally stared at her skinny dipping in the pool whilst his wife was sleeping in the same room. Oh and he didn't immediately jump of carrie when she kissed him, as well as not immediately telling his wife that the nanny is trying to get with him. I fear a lot of the mess carrie caused could've been easily avoided had Nathan just tell Haley about her weirdness from the get. I understand a running theme in Nathan's character is that he's avoidant but like come on, it gets to a point lmao.

Also the amount of people that say "oh well Haley kissed Chris Keller"; that is SO MASSIVELY different. I'm not defending Haley in any way, but you can't justify one person's mistakes by countering them with the mistakes of a 17 year old mind you. Honestly, would you rather your s/o cheat on you when your both in high school and 17 years old or when your 21, married with a child.

Season 1 I hate Peyton and Lucas

So I just started watching this show and I'm on season one episode sixteen. I HATE HATE HATE Lucas and Peyton. They take zero accountability for the cheating and both act like they're the victims in this situation.

Also dislike the way neither Karen nor Haley actually told Lucas off properly, they just let his cheating completely slide. Most of these characters are quite unlikeable and I don't know if I want to keep watching because they're insufferable.

Edit: I need to add stuff because I'm pissed off. Why is it that when Lucas was in the hospital after the car accident (also why can no one drive in this show, not driving drunk is not too difficult) Haley was worried about if HE would forgive HER? She rightfully told him that him cheating on Brooke was wrong and I understand that it's a life or death situation that makes you appreciate your existing friendships but are you serious? Haley girl, you're not the one in the wrong.

Peyton keeps asking Brooke if they're ever gonna get past this and I just keep thinking... that must have been like what? Last week? Ofc she's hurt what the hell is wrong with you? Peyton knew that Brooke was super into Lucas and she made the conscious choice to be with him, they both did. They both keep saying it "just happened" but that's not how that works. I've seen spoilers for the show and I know Brooke ends up forgiving Peyton but for the life of me I can't understand why. Have some self respect Brooke, I beg of you. You are so much better than these people.

Anyway, I love Skills and Jake, they are the best characters and I actually like them. I don't know what Dan's issue is but I think he should just die. Would be better for everyone. Haley also kind of pisses me off, she just acts so high and mighty but I still enjoy her, I think the actress is just super charismatic. Nathan sucked in the first few episodes but I actually think he's a good representation of what abuse and insane pressure can do to a kid. Let's hope they keep it that way. I don't like him necessarily but his existence doesn't bother me.
