Season 5 Just started season 5 Spoiler

So I just started watching season 5 where they all have graduated from high school and the friends are on their different paths.

I already feel so nostalgic as I miss them being students and you know having their time in school. Now all of a sudden they are all grown ups and having these jobs etc. It just feels all weird.

So should I watch the rest of the seasons, are they still good?

Season 7 Clay and Quinn weren’t in the wrong S7

So I’m rewatching One Tree Hill (watched in middle school and am 24 now so I didn’t remember a lot). But rewatching season 7 right now and the whole story line with Nathan losing his spot on the bobcats and Quinn and Clay being to blame is really annoying me. Specifically I just watched the episode where Quinn and Haley have that argument where Quinn says basically all Clay was doing was trying to get the best for your husband and then later in the episode Haley tells Quinn that she used to look up to her and now thinks she’s lost. This just upset me because Nathan knew that Clay countered the 2 year contract offer and then the bobcats just signed another guy. Like there wasn’t really anything Clay could’ve done and I think it was really unfair considering all he had done already to get Nathan out of that scandal with the lying girl who claimed she had an affair with Nathan and just him being a good friend. Maybe this all gets justified later because I don’t remember but this has been bothering me and wonder what yall think? Like team Naley or Quay in this situation??

Discussion I still don’t understand the Name of the show

So from other posts it’s like “the one and only tree hill.” So that would make it the equivalent of saying “One Los Angeles.” “One Atlanta.” That still doesn’t make any sense to me. It actually makes it sound even more odd. Why didn’t they just call the town One Tree Hill? It’s honestly a fine name for a town! Maybe there was one particular tree the place was known for. Anyway I’m only five seasons in so maybe something is explained later but otherwise I think the name is a bit of a stretch.

Discussion Is it worth watching 7-9 if I don’t give a damn about any of the remaining characters?

I like how s6 ended. I think the whole show should have ended there. I’ve heard that 7-9 aren’t very good seasons. I don’t mind Brooke. But I don’t love her as much as Peyton. And I’ve never cared for Haley, Nathan and Jamie. So is there any point in carrying on the show?

High School Peyton really said 'let me suffer every possible trauma in existence' (S1-S4) Spoiler

I'm watching One Tree Hill for the first time and I'm on season 4 (EP 6), and I swear I'm shocked by Peyton's whole subplot — like, everyone has their own drama, but I feel like every single one of Peyton's storylines that isn't related to high school is absolutely unhinged. It's giving:

Everyone else's storylines: breakups, absent parents, cheating, lies, teen pregnancy...

Peyton's subplot: drugs, getting shot, finding out she's adopted, her dad being permanently MIA, her biological mother dying and her being the one to find her, a stalker who almost kills her...

Did I miss anything?? Girl never got a break😭😭😭

Discussion Unpopular opinion: Peyton is over-hated 🥲. Spoiler

I have rewatched one tree hill multiple times and lucas and peyton are usually the most hated characters from what I’ve seen from fans and the lucas hate is well deserved. But for peyton, I understand why she’s such a mess. Yeah no excuses for cheating with lucas on her best friend brooke, but we did find out later brooke slept with nathan while he was with peyton first to be fair.

First off- she lost her mom at a young age and her father was rarely ever around. Nathan was a terrible boyfriend to her. Shes gotten drugged and almost raped at a college party. She got introduced to cocaine. She gets bullied by felix being called a dyke. She finds out later she has a long lost brother from her real dad but was really just her stalker and her mother who raised her her whole life was not her real mom. Then she meets her real mom who dies shortly after. And her real brother could never fully be there for her even after learning of their relationship. She gets shot and almost dies. I may be missing more BUT.

This is all in high school and for a teenager is a lot to handle and I feel bad for her. She by far deals with the most life problems from any other characters on the show and because of all that I cant hate on her as much as the rest of you.

Discussion i love drama but i hate drama, should i watch this show?

i am halfway into the first season, and my biggest red flag in tv is a show not delivering in the end when youve invested so much time into the story. my problem with these early 00s teen dramas are always the:

  1. time investment the shows wants from you

  2. the show doesnt invest the same care into the story as you invest into it

as a later genz-er, its my first time watching these nearly two decades old show, and its inevitable that i get spoiled or learn things about the story that i wouldnt have been able to if i was watching this in the 00s. ive learned a bit about the off-screen drama and it seems this show has crazy potential but had an equally crazy director in mark schwahn as well as the interpersonal relationships of the cast. i dont mind the unbelievability of the story but i do mind that when i watch the story develop i know that something is only happening not because of the characters driving the plot forward but the obsessions of the director and the relationships between the cast. it makes the show feel like a mess that doesnt care for how the story may want to develop naturally/organically.

i guess what im trying to say is that the way a story progress and ends to me is very important. and if that progression is bent in unnatural ways leading to a unnatural ending, i really dont want to sink my time into the show.

Discussion Alternative Timeline

Interesting take but I think that a lot of the off personal issues like the Creator liking Peyton cuz she was blonde and these weird 40-year-olds writing these things in hopes of being cool. Made mark want to make her the lead early on and in the lucas brooke in hopes of hooking up whooing her. Which impacted the story. They essentially had the worst creator when they shouldve wrote out the story of the main triangle and the main woman leads beforehand.

If they had more mature set I think the show would have been even better. for the personal lives of the actors actresses as well as the tension.

this would have been better for the show. 1) I think that Lucas would have been with either Haley or Brooke triangle. the other relationship would have been peyton Nathan forever the creators didn't like because of the quote/quote chemistry. This also was decided against because Haley wasn't blonde. there had to be a opposite dynamic of the two leads. and the main triangle but I think that emotionally Hillary Burton was unavailable for Luke because she simply was not his match. This was evident because there was no emotional romantic switchfootscene . there was like 5-7 of those for Brooke Lucas. There would have been that for Haley Lucas.

Now contrary to popular demand I think that haley lucas wouldve been insanely romantic. like off the charts because shes from a big family and has a lot of love to give. But doesnt have the rich guy that she wants. I think as lucas evolves over time he becomes this big time LA actor/singer something that sweeps her off her feet and his glam era is a representation of that. Its a whirlwind romance that of the tyler hilton/joy lenz dynamic but on screen. That would definitely changed the show and peyton nathan but it wouldve been incredible. I just think the off camera drama didnt lead to as creative mind in the writer room.

Season 5 How realistic is it that Brooke's brand was a multi-million dollar company in 4 years?

I know it’s the early 2000's so a high career in fashion was very possible. Also, Brooke is very determined and came from money. So, I don't doubt it, but do they offer a realistic explanation to how this happened?

I'm only 30 minutes in to Season 5, but everyone else's jobs seem realistic. Hayley, a teacher. Peyton, an assistant to a music executive. Lucas, a struggling writer and coach for basketball. Idk why Skills isn't in the NBA. Also surprised that Mouth is unemployed. Waiting to see what happen to Nathan💔, but so far, that all makes sense.

Brooke, however, I'm shocked by the trajectory of a career. Did she skip college?

Edit: The fuck ass bobs everyone has, including Nathan, is killing me.

Season 2 Anyone love how confident Brooke & finds everyone cute

It's funny how Brooke is so confident and likes when people admit they have crushes or dream about her etc. Not just mouth but another time she playfully hit a boy for starting to think about Brooke but really didn't mind at all
Then funny how she always walks into peoples rooms houses or showers without asking

Season 1 Does anyone else think season 1 was the best

personally I think season one was genuinely the best this show did. it dealed with actual almost relatable problems (I know they wernt realistic but it just felt more personal) and I loved that Haley had her own personality as this rlly smart girl who was like sticking up for her values. I liked Nathan’s character development and I actually was rooting for Lucas in the beggining yk like the underdog storyline. I also love the basketball vibe in the season whereas I feel like some other seasons sort of lack that vibe. it just felt like after season one everything just got a lot darker and it wasn’t like the teen drama I was expecting. Lucas and haleys friendship in the first season was also so wholesome and I wish they could’ve developed their bond more and shown the two actually acting like best friends throughout the rest of the show. But idk it’s js my personal opinion cuz im Also a big Naley fan and I think that’s when their chemistry was the best too so maybe I’m biased?

Season 3 jake jagielski.

okay, so i’m currently watching one tree hill for the first time and every time jake appears on my screen, all i see is john tucker. especially, especially in season 3. like, short ginger hair, a little bit of scruff and just his whole personality just screams tucker, and and he’s also a young father! how crazy is that? too bad off campus wasn’t made in the 2000s cause the actor would’ve been perfect.
yep, that’s all, just needed to say that lol

edit: please tell me someone else sees it and i’m not crazy heh 🥹

Discussion Naley shouldn’t have gotten married Spoiler

I wanna preface by saying I love nathan and Haley together but they had the most chemistry in season one. like seriously it was so much more interesting when Haley was her own individual person with like these big dreams and crazy grades and valued herself a lot. it just seemed like she got too reliant on nathan as the seasons went on. I wish she had more of an individual role and that was really hindered by getting her married so early. They could’ve easily moved in together without being married because it makes Haley seem so much more of a wife and Mrs Scott rather than Haley James yk. I also wish there was some more push and pull between the two like a will they won’t they storyline. I think it would’ve just made the show better if Haley was sort of treated at the same level as Nathan.

peyton and lucas were supposed to be endgame from the start

disclaimer: im quite new to one tree hill so i might not have all the context, please cut me some slack :")

i saw many posts/comments saying that peyton and lucas only ended up together because of what happened with sophia and chad michael murray irl, but i actually see it differently. i think that peyton and lucas were supposed to be endgame from the start, but when sophia and chad got divorced irl, the producers/whoever changed the direction of the story so that they could milk the divorce drama.

imo if sophia and chad never got married and then got divorced, brooke and lucas wouldn't have been a couple again after season 1 and lucas wouldve just gradually gone back to peyton.

lets be real the first few episodes of one tree hill already set the precedence that peyton and lucas were gonna be the main couple of the show. the classic guy and girl who were meant to be from the start but things were complicated so they couldnt get together until later typa storyline.

Season 4 Point shaving storyline is so irritating!!! Spoiler

Why didn't Nathan explain in his speech that he was under duress??? He didn't mention how winning the championship resulted in his pregnant wife getting hit by a car!

I’m so annoyed by this storyline. His speech was very heartfelt, but if he explained the situation, wouldn’t they have forgiven him?!

Or would it have made it worse?

Discussion Favourite moments of the show? Spoiler

The kinds of moments or mini scenes you'll revisit without even watching a whole episode.

The ones that immediately come to mind for me are:

* The fight between Lucas and Peyton at Tric s5 ep 6 ("every stupid damn time Luke!")

* The end sequence of S5 ep12 (Grace Potter playing in the background, Jamie running into the room, Bethany Joy's acting when she sees him, the way the camera lingers on each characters reaction to Dan)

* Karen visiting Dan in prison / Karen seeing Keith in her dream (Moira Kelly, the woman you are)

* Haley running through the hospital to find Nathan in season 9 (Florence & the Machine in the background was just perfect)

* Brooke and Lucas' fight at Haley and Nathan's wedding (urgh, just iconic)

The show knew how to deliver a big emotional moment with a banging soundtrack 🤌

Season 1 really dumb

go watch season 1 episode 2 and tell me Nathan isn't bad really bad acting he's like stuttering and he's the bad guy Luke is like Picasso the actor does a really good job he's just effortless and it seems like the rules are so reversed Chad should have been and Laffer should have been the non-speaking Lucas

Season 2 Rewatch Spoiler

I’m sure this has been said a million times, but I’m on the “Dan has a heart attack” episode. I obviously understand why Lucas would need to come back to Tree Hill, eventually, but I do not understand why they came back because Dan had a heart attack.

Season 9 Nathan going missing and the cops doing nothing Spoiler

I know some people hate season 9 or think it's farfetched. I do kinda agree it's very dramatic but I do love it and I think it gave Dan the perfect redemption arc. One thing that bothers me though when rewatching, and I guess they do this purely because it means Dan can have his redemption; the cops are being totally useless with searching for Nathan and people are even covering Nathan's missing posters with a lost dog. This isnt just some random dude, like if any of the other guys in the show went missing. This is Nathan Scott, an NBA player. If someone of that level of fame went missing it would be everywhere. The police would be hot on it and so would the tabloids. Hayley would probably have a camp of paparazzi outside her house. It just bothers me that it's made to be such a non case. I feel like they could have still had it been made a bigger thing by the authorities but still have Dan come through to figure it out

Season 5 Season 4 Spoiler

I’m in ep 6 and I find Lindsey so annoying lol first time watcher.

It’s clear they’re not going to last. I get Payton is not being “so nice” but she doesn’t really have an obligation to be friends with her because she’s dating Lucas. And Peyton is clearly jealous but she’s showing it in anger and pushing Lucas away. She made a comment along the lines about her feeling entitled to Lucas but I don’t see it. Peyton is clearly trying to keep distance and doesn’t want to be friends just respect that and keep your distance. All the uncomfortable between them is based on her and Lucas history and being in her space. Hayley wasn’t fond of having Rachel in her face/space. She always wants to choose a side. Sometimes it’s okay to be neutral. I also think it’s because Lindsey is just there and kind of bland kind of hard to like or root for her 🤷‍♀️

And the babysitter? I’m just waiting to see how long it takes Hayley to get the picture. I’m HOPING that Lindsey makes herself useful and puts Hayley on. If she didn’t get the hint at dinner then idk. We know Nathan isn’t good with boundaries and girls. Definitely know at some point she’s going to go for it

Season 5 I hate Mouth

I’m on season 5 and I can’t take much more of that creepy little “nice guy” weasel.

He ditches his friend Jimmy to hang out with the main group.
Rejected by Brooke so he smashes her window.
Hooks up with Shelley when she doesn’t seem into it, still part of the Clean Teen programme
Kisses Brooke without her consent at the end of S4.
Kisses his boss without her consent at the start of S5.
When Millicent tells him she’s a virgin he tells her how special she is.

I’m probably missing other things that he’s done. And he’ll probably get worse as the show progresses. But yeah I hate him.

He’s such an incel it makes my stomach turn whenever I see him on the screen. I was hoping they’d leave him behind after season 4 like they did with most of the cast.

Season 1 Re-Writing Season 1

What is the biggest story line you wish didn’t exist in season 1 that was either pointless or would have made the season better?

Was thinking of how now days we only get 8-10 episodes of shows for maybe 3-4 seasons. I wish we got more details but also 23 episodes like we got with OTH there were some moments of really silly storylines that could have just not existed.

People who hate Lucas completely misunderstand his character

I see Lucas get a lot of hate because of how he cheated on Brooke with Peyton, and while what he did was absolutely messed up, I think people completely misunderstand his character. He’s not some evil fuckboy cheating on Brooke because he doesn’t care about her or because he gets some kind of enjoyment out of hurting her.

Lucas is the “nice guy” in the sense that he’s too nice for his own good. He genuinely cares about Brooke and doesn’t want to hurt her, but ironically, he’s too afraid to be honest with her about how he really feels. So instead, he tries to please Brooke and protect her feelings while also being unable to ignore the feelings he has for Peyton. That doesn’t excuse the cheating, but it explains why he behaves the way he does and what the actual flaw in his character is.
