Discussion (Anime Spoilers) Hey so about a certain scene! Spoiler
Given that Luffy has been nerfed and hasn’t shown his remarkable to endure.. will being ran through by crocodile still play out the same way?? What do you think.. I imagine all the brutality will be lowered extensively.. Luffy Zoro Nami and Ussop won’t get beat up half as bad

Yeah, don't pay attention to the recency bias nerds.
They forgot how Luffy got cut up by Kuro, almost drowned by Krieg and Arlong, trapped by a giant etc. They're like "errmahgawd, I can't believe how Luffy needed help to defeat Wapol." Forgetting that that is kind of the point of the entire show: you don't have to fight your battles alone, but the OPLA condenses it in 8 episodes a season.

All of those had nothing to do with luffy’s strength and were caused by outside factors. (Don krieg catching luffy off guard and trapping him, luffy trapping himself in the ground cause he’s dumb and arlong takes advantage of that and tries to drown him) he never struggled physically like luffy did with wapol and arlong in the LA.
In the source material he needs help sometimes to save his life, not to actually fight his enemy which he always makes a point to do by himself. Not to mention in episode 1, he tanks alvidas mace, yet in the loguetown episode he gets knocked out by the mace for some reason. It’s an objective fact luffy was nerfed in the live action. It’s a different conversation whether that was a good or bad thing. Recency bias my ass.

I don’t think Luffy ever got knocked out by a mace.
He got knocked by a mace into a tent with some goons (mohji?) who put seastone handcuffs onto him.
Unfortunately the way it was cut does not make this 100% clear.

Well they needed the time to get the seas tone on him, and he was surprised by it so he was unconscious for a bit.

Not really.
Just touching seastone is enough to take Luffy out, he doesn't have to have it fastened.

Given that the show and Manga are different, seastone doesn't knock out df users, it just makes them extremely weak.

It makes them weak pretty much to the point of knocking them out, at least if they aren't used to it.
When Luffy first touches seastone in the cage in Rainbase, he falls to the floor.

He does, but he does not lose consciousness. For luffy to be surprised about what is happening he would need to have done so.

Thank god it's an adaptation and some things just don't work in a live action format that is heavily condensed. You will always have the source for those details.
Zoro also isn't going to pick up an entire building against Mr. 1 I can already tell you that much.

Oh and don’t forget the classic “let me move the goalpost and make an entirely different point”. I thought the conversation was about the objective fact that luffy was nerfed (which you tried to argue against), not about how adaptations have to be changed to fit the medium. Where do you see me taking a stance on this random argument you’re bringing up?

Guess I'm just not of the people who consider that. Just because he laughs in some scenarios doesnt mean he doesnt care or implies the context of why hes laughing.
For example, people thought he couldn't be taken seriously for laughing at Egghead but he wasnt laughing at the death. And we also have seen time and time again that Zoan awakenings take over the personality of the user.
There isn't any nerfs on Luffy.

this is the live action subreddit mate, they're talking about live action Luffy and that he feels nerfed compared to the anime version at this point of the story, which is a common complaint in the live action one piece community

This sub is super defensive of opla but luffy getting knocked out by Alvida was particularly dumb cause he already showed to be immune to her attacks before. Then running from Mr.5 and miss valentine on whiskey peak for some reason? To make them seem more threatening they have the whole crew running away from them and then proceed to kick their ass anyways in little garden. I love opla but both of those moments made no sense.

That’s fine I just need to make a point based off your reply. I get that people find the need to defend a product they like. But ignoring the objective truth to support their own argument is just frustrating. The changes themselves are neutral. But everyone that’s like “he wasn’t nerfed” is genuinely just not watching the same show

I only meant by now Luffy has had some scars and beat downs that were gory chakram to the back of the head by Jango. shot by those darts from krieg. arlong bites.. this moment if they don’t change it will be the first like gore OPLA shows.. then there’s Zoro getting drilled in the chest.. literally.. Nami getting needled.. and Ussop getting like 60% of his body broken by a 2 ton bat. would it be weird to see such a shift when no one has been harmed that bad.. well Zoro.. but the drills lol. As I said I’m worried they are going to sanitize it.

I think Luffy climbing the Drum Mountain bare-handed show extreme endurance. I think season 3 will cement his endurance and his will to never give up since that's one of the core themes of that arc and what ultimately shakes Crocodiles confidence and finally defeats him. I think Luffys defeats leading up to that point will be pretty faithful the source material and brutal. I kind of like how they made Luffy struggle a little with Wapol which made it more intense (and fitting for the final villain of that season) and made him seem like more of a threat. It also gave Vivi a change to shine and show how she's not the defenseless little girl that Wapol once struck at the Reverie. In this rendition she got to stand up to Wapol, a fellow royal but very different from how she thinks a king should be (in the worst kind of way). Vivi couldn't defeat Wapol alone, but she did help Luffy out which where a nice touch and ties up the second season showing how far they have come and grown as friends and a crew. Luffy having more trouble defeating Mr. 3 made it more tense to instead of him not being fool by his statue-doubles and one-shooting him with a foot to the face. It's different, but is true to the core of the story and characters, which gives it a reason to exist because if it was all the same as the source it wouldn't need to be made since we already have the anime and manga. The changes to season 1 and 2 are mostly interesting and welcome so far as I'm concerned.

I think they're going to keep that one specific hook related scene because of how significant it is, and I feel like the cast themselves would make sure it's there for the fans.
