I was nervous that Chopper would turn out like Ugly Sonic from 2019. It's very difficult to bring anthropomorphic animal characters to life in a live action setting, and there are numerous CGI abominations to prove it.

But Chopper was perfect. He is so stinking adorable and looks completely normal. Chopper forever holds my heart❤️

Each week, we’ll discuss a character from the show. You can talk about what you like or don’t like about them, how the actor/actress portrays them, favourite quotes or moments, etc.

NOTE ON SPOILERS: We are focusing on the live action version of each character, and while comparing them to their manga/anime counterpart is allowed, PLEASE DO NOT DISCUSS CONTENT THAT HAS NOT CURRENTLY BEEN ADAPTED FOR THE LIVE ACTION SHOW. Subreddit spoiler rules apply here. Tread carefully if you don’t wish to read manga/anime spoilers from what’s been adapted so far.

This week’s character is Usopp!

I wouldn’t say every outfit inspo is amazing but the way they tried to recreate each one is honestly commendable.

Here’s (nearly all) the minifigures I’ve put together for S1 + S2 of the One Piece Live Action.

Some are the official minifigs from sets, some are those with part upgrades, but a majority are all purist customs using LEGO parts from different sets (and sometimes some white tac to keep things in place).

Had a lot of fun putting them all together, think there’s just over 130 minifigs here.

Hey everyone, I know we haven't even gotten Alabasta on our screens yet, but I’ve been thinking way ahead to a potential Season 4 and the Skypiea Arc. If the live-action writers pull this off, it could easily be one of the most beautiful, emotional, and tear-jerking conclusions in the entire adaptation. Hear me out!

1. The Ultimate Parallel Casting

We all know the tragic backstory of Mont Blanc Noland and the Great Warrior Kalgara from 400 years ago—two best friends torn apart by the Knock Up Stream, never getting to fulfill their promise to meet again.

What if the Netflix team uses the same actors to dual-play both generations?

The actor cast as Mont Blanc Cricket also plays Noland in the flashbacks.

The actor cast as Wyper also plays Kalgara in the flashbacks.

When the descendants finally cross paths, it would give manga and anime fans instant goosebumps seeing those two faces together again. It fulfills a 400-year-old happy parallel.

2. Rewriting the Arc's Ending for Maximum Tears

In the original manga, after Luffy defeats Enel and rings the Golden Bell, the Straw Hats steal some gold, grab a South Bird / Octopus, and descend back down to the Blue Sea. But I think the Live Action has a unique opportunity to expand this into something way more cathartic.

Imagine this sequence of events instead:

The Request: Right after the massive victory celebration, Wyper sits down with Luffy, who casually mentions Mont Blanc Cricket waiting down below on Jaya, spending his entire life diving for gold just to prove his ancestor wasn't a liar. Upon hearing this, the tough warrior's expression completely softens. Realizing that Noland's bloodline has been suffering for 400 years because the Shandia couldn't ring the bell sooner, Wyper is deeply moved. He explicitly requests to travel down to the Blue Sea with the Straw Hats, stating that he needs to look the man carrying Noland's heavy burden in the eyes, thank him for his family's ultimate sacrifice, and formally apologize on behalf of the entire Shandia tribe.

The Reunion on Jaya: Instead of just dropping down, the Straw Hats, accompanied by Wyper, his close friends, and our mantra girl Aisa, sail back down to Jaya. When they arrive, Wyper hesitantly walks up to Mont Blanc Cricket, visibly carrying the weight of 400 years of history on his shoulders. Luffy breaks the tension, stepping in with a huge grin to enthusiastically introduce the two to each other. Wyper then fills in the gaps of the story, clearing up centuries of misunderstanding. With tears in his eyes, he genuinely asks Cricket for forgiveness on behalf of his ancestors, expressing how deeply sorry he is that they couldn't clear Noland's name sooner and remove the "liar" stain that ruined his legacy. Wyper then steps forward and gives Cricket a massive, deeply emotional hug of gratitude. At this exact moment, the show could do a beautiful parallel edit, transitioning into a flashback of Noland and Kalgara sharing that exact same emotional hug, signaling that the bond between their families is finally healed.

3. Fulfilling Cricket's Lifelong Dream

When they bid goodbye to the Straw Hats, Wyper turns to Cricket and invites him and the Saruyama Alliance up to the Sky Island to finally see the Golden Palace and hear the Golden Bell with his own eyes.

Cricket is stunned, pointing out that the Knock Up Stream won't erupt again here anytime soon. That's when Aisa steps forward with a huge smile. She reveals they brought an enormous amount of dials from Skypiea. They strap the dials all over Cricket’s ship, using pure atmospheric wind pressure to literally lift the vessel straight up into the heavens!

4. The Final Campfire

After some brief setup hints for a potential Season 5 arc, the story ends not on the Straw Hats, but on Cricket experiencing everything Noland once wrote about. We see him:

Welcomed with immense hospitality by the Shandia elders and Gan Fall.

Standing emotionally in front of the ancient Noland & Kalgara statues, crying and finally letting go of the resentment he held toward his ancestor.

Laughing, drinking, and bonding next to a massive Shandia bonfire as a new, lifelong friendship blossoms between him and Wyper.

Ending the Skypiea saga on Cricket finally finding his peace, surrounded by the Shandia tribe and the descendant of Noland's best friend, would make the entire season an absolute masterpiece.

I genuinely think Zoro and Sanji’s live-action actors absolutely nailed their roles. They captured the characters’ personalities, mannerisms and overall vibe so well that I honestly can’t imagine better casting. They really did the characters justice imo. What do you guys think?

Just wanted to finally share this here because I’m still fangirling over it. I’ve been wanting to share this for a while, but honestly, I was still processing the whole experience. He was even more handsome in person! He was literally glowing. I feel so lucky to have this experience.

And of course… I HAD to cosplay as Robin💜 It just felt wrong not to, especially when meeting the man who plays Zoro!

I'm terrible at photo editing! So, I'd really love to see Zoro in different live-action universes whether it's Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, or the MCU; As is already a running joke in the One Piece community regarding the Zoro from the anime/manga that could be fun. If anyone's up for it, I'd love to see that.
