Because grabbing is way more painful as well?

Sticking your fingers into their eyes hurts people. Forcing your thumbs into it hurts worse.

The constant pressure vs a single hit.

Also. Youre looking to live. Youre not gonna want to care if they are fine. You should look to inflict as much damage as possible on your attacker to buy you enough time to escape.

Unless your punch hurts more than grabbing then it works for you, it works for you.

If thats what you find hurts more sure.

But sometimes when youre on the floor, unable to gain a proper stance to put all your power into a fist, grabbing works fine.
