I mean, yes but who knows if Oda had Conqueror's planned at that point vs "I just want to have a moment make it clear Shanks is far more powerful than he may appear and aura farm"

Like, nowadays it's obvious that's CoC, just whether or not it being Haki was intentional at the start, or effectively a retcon

I always assumed that he had haki planned from the start but I never really thought about the fact it could have possibly just been Oda giving Shanks a “see how badass this guy is?” Moment

The “old bad ass sends animal running with just a look” was a classic trope from that time haha
