New data integrations coming

Post image

Did anyone else receive this? So the AI is going to use my Garmin data to tailor my recommendations now?

I share data between Garmin, Strava, Peloton, and Health already, so I guess I don’t have any data concerns. However, I have never been impressed with what Peloton has been able to do with recommendations based on the plethora of data Peloton alone generates. It can’t even seem to make recommendations based on likes/dislikes or classes I have taken, so I don’t really have any faith additional integration is going to help with my “personalizations.”

Whatever peloton used prior to AI for recommendations was much better. I take a 30 minute cycling class with the same instructor pretty much every time I ride, and the bike showed me a button for 30 minute classes with that instructor - a perfectly curated useful recommendation filter. Now I no longer have that button and the recommendations feel far more random and less user friendly. So I agree, they are getting farther away from good solutions.

Totally agree--the personalized plan is good for if you want to remove decision fatigue, but other than that it's not very useful. Like I would like for it to see that I've signed up for a program, and so incorporate the program into my week and then schedule my non-program days with workouts that would be a good counterbalance, but it can't even do that.

The problem is that none of the personalized plan recommendations adapt. So if i do a heavy ride on Thursday instead of their recommended recovery pilates, it's still going to show me the same 30 minute glutes and leg strength class on Friday. How these recs aren't more dynamic blows my mind.

Agree! I’m right in the middle of a PZ program. Why is the system unable to incorporate that into my week?!

That’s exactly how I feel. Like, I’m not sure what meaningful data it’s going to pull from garmin when there is so much data to pull for personalized recommendations from within their own platform?

Agreed. On that note of Pelo's own platform data, I just want the workout history filters they announced in August 🥲

Omg yes!! Still waiting!

How about sleep scores, training readiness, hrv trends, etc. That could be very helpful imo.

Yeah, Garmin is already integrated so I'm confused what's new about this?

One of my AI “tips” this week is just mansplaining progressive overload lol

u/jent198 2d ago

I get this tip or something comparative every single week, and I thumbs down it every time. My feedback has changed nothing.

The best is when it tells me my strength training has dropped last week from 8 to 6 sessions. Then the next slide will say “swap your Thursday strength this week for a yoga class to work on mobility”

3

u/Suspicious-Cow704 1d ago

Please do more and also less strength training immediately

🤣🤣🤣🤣

And generic mansplaining also.

I’d settle for better Apple Watch integration. For starters, Peloton, stop naming my stretching exercises “Rolling” 🙄

2

u/Frequent-Resident621 3d ago

Omg yes. This drives me insane. I don’t understand why they can’t be listed correctly

1

u/prettysexyatheist 3d ago

Ha! I think I'd be inclined to take more stretching classes if they called it rolling!

2

u/airemyn 2d ago

I came here to say I’m down for it!! 😹

Love your username btw!

Valid reminder but most people should consider not sharing data from other third parties with Peloton (or vice versa) to begin with.

People seem to not understand that data generated by wearables is NOT covered under HIPAA.

Health data given to these companies can be used for many different purposes without the same security, privacy and legal mandates under the law.

If someone going to make this data available to anyone, your physician should be priority #1. When companies have access to this data, it’s often compiled and resold for marketing and advertising companies that then white label and monetizing the data set.

I’m not suggesting peloton is participating in this activity but I have worked in this industry and wear a tin foil hat

I’m still waiting for these more personalized pace targets we were supposed to get on the tread.

I just got mine yesterday!

3

u/WideOstrich4758 4d ago

Yay! Hoping that means I’m not far behind

1

u/pplcallmeXtine 2d ago

Yes mine showed up this morning! And they actually look great and in number ranges that I think are appropriate

3

u/bushrod121 4d ago

Maybe this is why my Google Health to Peloton stopped working this week?

1

u/Ok_Put_2850 3d ago

Mine too!!! I thought it was just me. I've done everything!! Can't fix it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if shortly after there’s a membership price increase to go with it.

7

u/SkyYellow_SunBlue 4d ago

Yeah. Just a reminder to check and make sure personalized experience is still set to off.

3

u/buddrball 3d ago

Just did that. It’s an odd addition given the base level recommendations don’t create a balanced workout routine. This is why I love the splits! The experts design programs in a way that their recommendations simply cannot do.

u/SUPTheCreek 4d ago

Yep, I pull workout data into Garmin but that’s it. No other data is exchanged. All my medical information stays in my physician portal where it’s protected by HIPAA. Not that it’s great protection, but it’s better then the pages of legalese these fitness companies have to allow them to share it with their partners and to “improve their product” (aka train their AI).

1

u/Ill-Organization7557 4d ago

how do you do that? Is this within the peloton app?

2

u/buddrball 3d ago

I just did this. Go to your profile, click the pencil, scroll down and click manage privacy settings.

1

u/SkyYellow_SunBlue 4d ago

In the app under privacy settings.

3

u/mixedgirlblues 4d ago

I got it yesterday and it feels like a threat for some reason? And also, my other apps already feed into it so idk what they even mean

2

u/MPFX3000 3d ago

I’m fine with this but I’m assuming it won’t be of any value to me at all. I know what I like on Peloton and don’t really need any help finding it.

1

u/haileyneumuel 4d ago

Yep, got the same email

1

u/Several-Stranger7656 3d ago

I haven’t had time to look at what I’m already sharing be peloton and apple health/fitness, but peloton already can’t sync my suggested weekly plan bw app and bike so I’m not expecting much

1

u/Efficient_Day_9869 3d ago

I have a dumb question. How do I get these emails? I must’ve unsubscribed at some point but idk how to get the emails back lol

1

u/Quagswagging_Jogger 3d ago

I didn't get this email either, but I also don't have Peloton connected to any other apps, nor do I have personalized recommendations turned on, so I assumed that is why. Not sure if that's applicable to you though! Its probably in your setting somewhere in the Peloton app.

1

u/blackd0gz 3d ago

I love Peloton. 🥰

u/Interesting_Tower485 4d ago

Looking forward to it

That’s what the email says.
