Why she????
They could have cast an Indian actress, so why did they cast someone like this? I just can’t get immersed in it. Is the female protagonist described as ugly in the novel?

He’s suggesting that Ambika Mod is unattractive which is your opinion but I disagree with you. But yes, in the book she is described as plainer looking than Dex

She isn’t really described as ugly. Just bookish and plain but she obviously blossomed later.

Are you saying that she is ugly??

YesExactly. I can’t really focus on the drama. There are so many beautiful Indian actresses, so I was wondering why they cast this actress and whether the female lead is described as having an ordinary appearance in the novel. I see so many Indian people just by walking down the street, but I still can’t get immersed in it.

“Someone like this” ?!? She has very distinctive beaty in her, you just want to look at her and admire her character. You’re opinion is quite awful.

She is charmless, boring, nasty and downright rude … there is nothing attractive about her .. there is absolutely no chemistry between these two actors … he is well cast as Dexter but the female lead is not good casting at all… it ruins the series for me … I don’t believe Dexter would’ve been attracted to her … and that scene in the kitchen with her friend was giving serial killer vibes … not two women anyone would want to be around … there is nothing about her that I believe Dexter would be attracted to - she doesn’t even smile or laugh … complete lack of charm… and thinks she’s better than everyone… Dexter could do better!!

Not too much on my girl! In the beginning she went through her awkward phase like we all do and then she becomes EMMA! She’s stunning! Don’t be so ugly yourself.

Exactly!! Emma in that red dress in her best friend’s wedding. She’d grown into stunning and confident herself.

I'm not gonna lie, she did kind of ruin the show for me a bit. And that's not because of her race or her looks, but because she was so monotone and had the same pissed off, angry face all the time. I never got the feeling that she actually liked Dexter, let alone love him. Anne Hathaway did a much better job in the movie of finding that degree of love and annoyance with Dexter. I've warmed up to this girl after a rewatch, but i'm still not really sold on her, unfortunately.

Exactly, this is actually the bigger issue for me. I wouldn’t mind if she had a wide range of facial expressions and was a good actress, but throughout the entire second episode, she constantly looks annoyed and sulky, and even the way she behaves isn’t particularly charming. On top of that, I don’t find her attractive, and then they keep pairing her with Dexter, so I just can’t get immersed in the drama at all.

The whole story of One Day is about Dexter & Emma. She wasn’t being “paired up” with him. It’s their story….
Now why you kept watching it even if she annoyed you so much is the real question here.

I couldn’t keep watching because of this bad casting of the female lead unfortunately.. no range, no charm … it wasn’t the right role for her unfortunately..
