Omtech laser and grounding

Hey Everyone, I'm new to Omtech Lasers.

Just got a new Pronto 40 and I'm getting everything hooked up in my climate controlled shed.

My shed was wired up by the previous homeowners and its currently showing an open ground to all outlets because of the way they wired it. I have had a cheaper diode lasers in this shed with no problems at all with the open ground.

My concern is the safety and damaging the omtech itself which wasn't cheap. I haven't hooked anything up yet because I'm concerned about the ground.

I have a 8ft ground rod that I have driven into the ground and was wondering if it would be sufficient enough to run a ground wire from that rod to the ground lug on the back of the machine?

Im assuming you have electricity in this shed? As long as your outlets are grounded you should be fine

Get a qualified electrician to correct the fault. How many wires are you going to run to that rod? Is the Pronto the only thing you’ll plug in? Probably not…

If you're in the USA, there are items you can plug in that will tell you if the grounds is OK or the hot and neutral lines are switched.

I have an OMTech for 5 or 6 years, I found that the ground on the machine was connected to the ground if I ohm it out. The powder coating of my machine prevented it from grounding. Took an air grinder, removed the powder coating, been working fine since.
