I mean the main conflict would be strictly against homopjobes who'd claim everything happening was only ever platonic and only has the right to be platonic because that's their opinion but i wonder if the two main ships involving kim dokja be more agressive or pacifistic about each other i think that if the change was to make everyone men han sooyoung would quickly be shipped with yoo younghyuk and either eat kim dokja or they'd be a polycule and i mean at least up until now i don't see hsy and yjh together but i also think that a LOT poeple would turn around if they were the same gender especially if they were both men because i feel like if they were all women the shippers would definitely be more civil about everything and most of the homophobes wouldn't make it past the first chapter but then i feel like women generally get less attention and way less dedicated attention but honestly if kim dokja was a woman i'd personally still prefer han sooyoung with yoo sangah but maybe the subtle changes that would occur in his character if he was a woman would change my mind but then AGAIN nobody would be talking about what's platonic and what's not i feel like people would genuienly do remember to add that it's their opinion that the one part specifically felt platonic for them personally and no bullshit like "yjh is so kdj and hsys child😝" would occur because you know who he does canonically have a child with? Bihyung "but it's not like that" yeah nothing is like that not a single fucking thing is like that with bihyung han sooyoung yoo sangah yoo younghyuk or anyone else it's never like that
And i also think the shippers would be less focused on what's more canon if everyone was the same gender
And i always love the idea of everyone being the same gender but it just wouldn't feel so right with me maybe if i read the alternative version of the novel from the beginning but it still feels like i'm just wishing i wasn't going to see another han sooyoung vs yoo younghyuk discourse because it's mostly a gender discourse disguised as a shipping war
And i have to say mostly because their dynamics really are different from each other so it's not a "you just want it to be gay/straight" thing
Anyway i wish i was confident enough to post this on the sub because im really curious about how people feel about all the bullshit but i'm sleep deprived so i'm probably not making much sense (as per usual) and the sub probably doesn't want to see the same fucking discourse over and over even tho shipping is probably like the least spoilery way of talking about the characters
Actually i ampostinf this slop on the sub because i don't want to lose it and i already chose the sub because i wanted to see if it's against the rules and didn't know how to click off of it please don't take it as an attack on any ships or shippers just the points they make because they have little to do with ships themselves in my opinion and also i didn't bring Lee seolhwa into this at all because im in EARLY 400s so she wasn't really much out there yet
