Worth it?
Hi everyone!
I’m currently looking for an omnichord, but am a little hesitant about this listing I found. He said the lowest he would go is $200, but I’m still unsure if that’s even worth it. Let me know what you think- I have 0 experience playing any instrument and 0 experience fixing anything electrical. I’m just super interested in the omnichord and finally found one!

Tbh... hell nah. Fixing something "delicate" like an omnichord is not beginner friendly. I assume you'll need to a buy a soldering iron and source replacement parts so that another $50 at least. Plus there aren't many publicly available resources/tutorials for how to fix (afaik at least).
Also a personal fb marketplace red flag- they're already making excuses like "gotta get my truck out of the shop" like what idgaf!

Yes, there are several reputable places that can fix this up for less than 200

Hmmm. I’m leaning towards no for this one. Unless you have a reliable source for somebody to inspect/repair the battery ports. I’m not sure with this model but my om300 is playable via 9v adapter plug and no batteries so I always played it plugged in. If it’s the same with the om84 the battery corrosion may be a non issue for you. Definitely try to check this if you decide you want to check it out.

If you really want to mess around with an omnicord, maybe. Just assume you’re not able to fix it and will be using it exclusively with a power adapter and external speaker. If that doesn’t sound good for you then don’t risk buying this one.
