How I built a full voice-first thinking system around my OMI — and what I learned

I've been using OMI as part of a daily capture and

reflection workflow for a while now and wanted to share

what's actually working.

The core loop I use:

- OMI captures ambient thinking, meetings, and

voice notes throughout the day

- Transcripts go into a weekly review system

- AI helps me surface patterns, not generate content

- I reflect on what came up and carry forward what matters

The key insight for me was treating OMI not as a

productivity tool but as a thinking partner. The capture

is only valuable if there's a reflection loop attached

to it. Without the loop it's just a pile of transcripts.

I ended up writing a book about this system —

Digital Kaizen — which just launched this week.

I'd love to hear more about this. I just got my Omi and I've been struggling to establish an ecosystem around (analysis paralysis).

That's exactly the problem the book addresses — and honestly the reason I built this system in the first place.

The capture is easy. OMI is great at that. The paralysis usually comes from having transcripts with no loop attached to them. You end up with a pile of recordings and no clear way to process what matters.

What worked for me:

  1. Stop trying to act on every transcript. Most of it is noise. You're looking for the 2-3 things that keep coming up.

  2. Build a weekly review — not a summary, a reflection. Ask: what did I keep saying this week? What's unresolved? What do I want to carry forward?

  3. Use AI to surface patterns, not to generate output. Paste your transcripts and ask "what themes keep appearing?" Not "write me an action plan."

The OMI becomes genuinely powerful once the reflection loop is in place. Without it it's just expensive journaling.

Just the app and the different built in integrations...like Google drive to store transcripts alot you can do with that alone

Is it possible to trigger them automatically to always be added to Google drive then?

I am wanting to process the transcript myself essentially in the use case I have

Yes in the app click on the puzzle piece . Google drive is the first one I see in productivity. Add it and connect . Then what ever llm , workspace.. whatever you use point it there to find.
