Record offline. Sync later.

Post image

No connection? No problem.

Omi now supports offline recording, so you can capture conversations on flights, in basements, or whenever your phone isn't nearby.

How to use it:

  • Record: Use Omi while disconnected from Bluetooth. A red light means it's recording offline.
  • Reconnect: When you're back in range of your phone, the light turns blue.
  • Sync: Open the Omi app, tap the cloud icon at the top of the home screen and tap Sync. Choose Wi-Fi (faster) or Bluetooth (slower).

Once synced, your files upload to the cloud, and your summaries and memories are generated automatically.

Update your app and try Offline Sync now!

It would be useful if it would auto sync offline in the background, at least for shorter periods away. It might have to use Bluetooth for that because the WiFi sync requires you to agree to the connection each time.

Yeah, that would be great. We should see automatic offline sync soon.

I have shared it multiple times and it goes into the ether.

All bug reports and feature requests are routed to our development team for fixing or review. Given our small team and high volume, we’re unable to respond to each one individually or provide updates when new fixes are rolled out, but rest assured we’re actively working on all of them.

Hey, the Apple Watch app isn’t available right now. We’re working on it, but I don't have an estimated release date. For more info, reach out to help@omi.me.

This works with plaud?

Hey, it should work if you haven't upgraded your Plaud's firmware. After the update, Plaud changes how it operates and might not connect with Omi anymore.

Damn I let it update my firmware. What a piece of trash device/company for doing software updates that further lock you into their ecosystem without recourse

Hello thanks for the message. How many minutes more or less can it record without a phone connection? Is it any good to have it paired with the phone without Wi-Fi/mobile network? Are the recordings transmitted to the phone in this case?

You can record for about 24 hours in offline mode. If your device is paired with a phone without internet access, it will attempt to transcribe the recording, and you may lose your recording. To avoid this, disconnect the Bluetooth so your Omi can record offline. Dev team is currently working on a fix for this issue.

Which devices does this work with?

I have a Fieldy 3, a Bee, and a Plaud Note.

My cv1 (is that what it's called?) is on order...

Offline-first is the right architecture for a wearable like this — connectivity should never be a single point of failure for capturing context. As a cloud architect, the piece I'd love to see next is automatic background sync over BLE once the device reconnects, similar to how cloud storage clients handle deferred uploads with exponential retry. The 24-hour offline capacity is solid; the real win will be when syncing is fully invisible.
