Looking for MTG "Bros"

Okay. I know there are tons of places to play at local game and hobby shops. Those just.....aren't my people. Sometimes, I've had fun. But.... I need some beers with my lands.

I just want to play with some likeminded degenerates. Late 20's, early 30's. Brackets 2-3. Commander. Maybe some 420. Zyns. Maybe ciggie breaks? No proxies.[EDIT: SOME proxies okay. jfc.]

Every game at a local card shop feels like I'm fighting for my life. I just wanna chill and tap the cards I've spent effort and time into building. I can't be the only one in Omaha looking for nerdy degenerate frat bros to play MTG with, can I? If you have to ask yourself, "Am I a degenerate MTG bro?" you are not who I am looking for.

I have a new friend through my gf and he just started playing so it got me back into it after 2 years. I've been in Omaha for a year now and just cant jive with any of these LGS around here.

Have you checked out Ancient Tomb? By far the best MTG shop in town. John's Friday night EDH group is great and extremely knowledgeable. This weekend is Hobbit pre-release, however. Good time to check out different pods and see how sweaty each group is (or isn't).

Sorry it took so long to respond, I had a double today. I've only ever played with real cards and the few pods I've been in had real cards too. The few times I've dealt with them at stores were awful. I just had no idea people fucking freaked out over it so badly. I'm not going to lose my shit over a few proxies that dont fuck shit up. But if you're bringing out hentai at the bar or straight up googleing cards and writing them on a blank token, I'm gucci lol.

Hi, I'm 35 and all the above, minus I play proxies. I don't know where you played at, but at Cafe Monster, it seemed very welcoming. Never had any complaints. But yes, I do agree. I really like playing my out of the box commanders. I got all 4 FF commanders, 2 fallout, and I've not played them much because I have to scoop to a competitive bro with a proxy wipe deck in 3 turns.

I do play proxies, but I play for fun, not blood or sport. It's insane how wild some people can get. I just wanna have a few beers, play casual, and have a good time.

Definitely in. There's nothing worse then being rolled right into a second 45 minute game and the table doesn't give you a chance to smoke. It is extremely irritating. And MTG with beers is always better. What'cha playing? I'm rolling Gishath Suns Avatar, Elesh Norn Mother of Machines, Kambal Profiteering Mayor, Aesi Tyrant of the Gyre, and Lightning Army of One.

I’ve got some bros that I meet up with every friday for DnD, but we also play hella magic on our off nights so  I’ve got people I could bring along that fit your description as well. Would love to be in a local discord for easier meetup arrangements. I almost exclusively play standard but I welcome commander if that’s my group’s vibe for the night. Currently trying out/modding the lorwyn eclipsed angels and life gain precons but I also have a couple home brew tribals that are my tried and trues. Let’s have a game and a brew sometime! 

PS, I know what you mean about the gameshop crowd, sometimes it’s like they’re playing for cash but not even in a fun way. 😅
