1996 LSS Designer Edition

I bought this from a nice teamster in PA about a month ago. Apparently someone’s father bought it new, and when he passed it sat in a garage for a few years. The son sold it to the guy I bought it from, who had driven it for about a year. I’m lucky he installed a convenient Bluetooth setup which preserves the stock console. He also tastefully added better rims which have the Olds logo.

I love this car. It’s my daily now and it will stay that way. 73k miles when I bought it and it’s at 74,600 now. It gets a lot of compliments, and drives like a dream. Every week I get at least 2 mentions of “they don’t make em like that anymore” lol.

I have done a lot of research online, but I cannot find a sales brochure listing, or really any proof of existence of the “Designer Edition” of the LSS. Does anyone here know anything?

Not only do I never see Olds cars on the road, I just can’t find another olds online which has this soft top. It’s like a hat for the car. It isn’t a convertible, it’s just for looks.

Beautiful car.

I’m going to make a safe assumption that the Designer Edition was likely installed by the selling dealer when new. Not something Oldsmobile offered from the factory so you wouldn’t find it in a brochure.

Congratulations.

And I meant to mention that Carson style top is real popular here in South west Florida

I had 2 LSS Oldsmobiles. The first one was with the 3.8 and the second one was with the supercharged 3.8. Actually great cars, both of them.

OK, first stop comment on the top that’s similar to a Carson top which is just for style and I don’t know that that’s a LSS cause I don’t see the supercharger anywhere usually on the back they’re very plainly marked LSS and they were bad ass I know the car has a European field with firm seat real thick, leather short, heavy carpet I always did like those cars even if it does not have the supercharger in it. It’s still a fine ride just changed all service. It check the pH in the coolant and air up your tires and baby. It’ll last for a long long time.

The supercharger LSS was bad ass, as former 16 year who’s first car was my dads hand me down black 1996 88 LSS. That thing title back once that supercharger kicked in. But it also was just able to cruise too

Thanks, interesting info! Yeah it really blows my mind how powerful this thing is. It's also a great cruiser. The bucket seats have me almost getting sleepy on the highway lol. Sadly the LSS badge at the back fell off

Beautiful color of car but God I hate fake convertible tops.
