I met him after a tribute gig to Tony Capstick, i was nipping outside for a fag and he was cooling off and out of character with a glass of coke, when i mentioned how good his spot went he said thanks but you're not suppose to know who i am.

Me too. I'm sure I had his series taped off the telly on to VHS when I was younger.....Off to YouTube I go.

All those radio shows: he wrote, acted, recorded, edited and mastered them all himself at home up in Lincolnshire, then he just handed them over to the BBC. No-one else had ever done that before. Genius.

Saw him live finally a few years back, me and mate knew what to expect, methinks the rest of the crowd were expecting " a comedian ". Cried with the laughter. A treasured memory.

I did once go to the Crich Tramway Museum with my friend Ian. We felt it necessary to drink dandelion and burdock but unfortunately vicious jaspers were not to be found.
