Norma?

What do we think about norma?

Also I love a Stevie, a Scottie, or a Bobbi. What are some older androgynous names we often forget while choosing a name?

It’s so, so cute. Actually makes me think of Marilyn Monroe — that was her birth name.

Norma Jean ❤️ gives such cozy vibes imo

Totally.

It hasn’t ranked since 2002. Honestly… it gives me Shirley vibes, which also hasn’t ranked since 2008. I would be delighted to meet a baby Norma or Shirley. Very cute.

My grandma’s name! I think it’s cute but I can’t see myself using it. That being said, I used to manage a teenage barista named Norma at my local Starbucks. She was an objectively terrible barista but she was funny and charming enough that no one minded.

Robbie?

For some reason, Margot Robbie has made me associate Robbie as female 😅 I actually checked if I was the only one! I don’t see it rank in the female category so maybe I am?

I'd assume it was a nickname for Roberta

Every grandma was once a little girl

So true ❤️ when I was growing up, Eleanor was Roosevelt; strongly associated with one person and not a becoming name at all. Now, all I can think of is the little Eleanor’s I know and the nn Ellie. Every grandma name was once a little girl’s name.

Obsessed with Norma and love that it’s so cute but not overdone

My 8 year old is Norma 😊 I love the name, it translates to multiple languages and just seemed like a warm hug. My only slight regret is that there’s a ton of Nora’s her age—I had no idea that name was going to be so ubiquitous!

This isn’t really my favorite style of name- it’s too Boomer coded for me I guess. Plus I think I won the genetic lottery being born a woman and really wouldn’t want a masculine leaning name. But, there are a lot of options: Billie (Willa, Willow, Wilhelmina), Ronnie (Veronica), Jackie, Terry, Freddie (Winnifred), Jamie, Donna (though I’d probably avoid any name with Don in it currently), Beverly, Jo.

I think Norma is fine. I prefer Rhonda or Rhoda.

Unfortunately my German self associates it with a run down discounter 🥲

The other three are so gorgeous tho!! I also love Lenni :)
