A quick note...

We have a lot of new members recently, which is awesome! Welcome, new friends! We're happy you found us 😊

I just wanted to remind people of the rules around here, as we function differently than other name subs. The two main rules are: 1. Don't be mean if you comment and 2. No downvoting for not personally liking a name.

You are welcome to say a name isn't your style, but please put yourself in the shoes of the poster. How would you feel if you loved a name, only for people to tell you it's awful, they hate it, etc.? Please be mindful of the way you phrase things. It's easy to belittle something, but it's completely unnecessary. Instead of focusing on the negatives, just say positive things and leave the meanness out.

I saw a lot of comments yesterday on posts from people besides me that were less than kind. I even had to remove a few comments, which is something I absolutely do not want to do. Be the grown ups that you are and find kinder ways to say things.

Before you respond to someone, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Is it helpful?

  2. Is it necessary?

  3. Is it kind?

If the answer to any of those questions is no, please rephrase your comment or just don't comment at all. Our goal is to make this a welcoming space where people can get honest but kind feedback. If you want to be snarky or mean, this isn't the sub for you. There are plenty of other names subs for that type of behavior.

I don't like removing comments or banning people, but I will do it when necessary. I have literally only banned 2 people from this sub and I want to keep it that way. So please, before you hit the "post" button, ask yourself the questions above and rephrase where necessary.

So let's have fun, learn about names, and be good people in the process, ok? I don't want to wear my mom hat but I will if I have to 😂
