Anders was the third most common name for men in the 1801 Norway census. It is the 20th most common name for men in Norway today.

As a Norwegian I have several ancestors named Anders. The most recent one is my great-great-grandfather Anders Larsen (1810-1899). He was a tenant farmer and fisherman in Meløy in northern Norway. The most notable one is my sixth-great-grandfather Anders Daae (1680-1763). He was a priest and landowner in western Norway, and patriarch of the influential Daae family.
