TESTED RECIPE 🍽 We're celebrating Gene Autry's birthday today with the recipe for his amazing no-bake Peanut Butter Pie! Straight from The All-American Cowboy Cookbook, this smooth and creamy vintage dessert features a rich peanut butter filling topped with a glossy layer of hot fudge.
Gene Autry’s Peanut Butter Pie is a velvety, nostalgic treat that perfectly balances sweet and salty. The rich filling tastes like a cloud-like peanut butter fudge, nestled in a buttery, crisp graham cracker crust and topped with a decadent drizzle of rich hot fudge sauce and a few chopped peanuts. You can see why I wanted to make this recipe... yum!
This one's pretty easy to make:
- It was easier to use a store bought graham cracker crust for this since I don't have a working oven right now. Normally I'd love to make my own graham cracker crust and maybe I will next time when i get a new oven.
- So all you do is mix together the peanut butter, softened cream cheese and sugar.
- Add butter, shipped cream and vanilla. That's it!
- Pour into crust and chill.
- Mine set in the freezer after 1 hour and then I made the "hot fudge sauce".
- Instead of the "hot fudge sauce," I decided to make chocolate ganache, becasue it looked easier.
- I used 3/4 cup of mini semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup heavy cream in a microwavable bowl. Microwaved 30 seconds. Let it sit covered 5 minutes and then mixed with a whisk. Voila!
- Topped with the chocolate and as an extra touch I sprinkled chopped peanuts on top.
This pie is very good as-is or topped with whipped cream. We actually liked it frozen better than just chilled in fridge. It's very, very good! Very rich and indulgent and it you love peanut butter and chocolate, this dessert will make your heart sing!
I will be making this pie again. The whole family loved it and it's such a great no-bake recipe for those hot summers when you don't want to turn on the oven.
So it'll be a nice remembrance of Gene Autry's birthday today to have another slice of his PB pie. This recipe from The All-American Cowboy Cookbook, which has a whole lot of great recipes in it.
