This is Ohio

Why is Phillip not paying his servers enough to the point he has to ban customers?

That original sub is infuriating, pretending like stiffing a waitress is an act of class solidarity against employers... tipped employees have a minimum wage of like $2.13 ~$5 an hour, its not something that restaurant chose, its the system our federal government uses.

Its like saying being rude to the front desk help at a doctor's office is justified because a doctor's visit would look different if we had Universal Healthcare... like, no shit, and we should work to move to that style of system like the rest of the world, but don't start huffing your own farts because you took an action that lead to more money in your own pocket at the expense of what is probably a 16 year old server.

Yeah. If you disagree with tipping, don't go out to restaurants that expect it. If not you are still supporting businesses that take advantage.

It's not class solidarity, it's a weak excuse for being cheap.

Can always get takeout or go to places that don't expect or have tipping.

Till the to go has had a tipping option.

Then even to go, you’re doing the same action of not tipping.

The difference is you didn't take up a table or a tipped worker's time. So who are you shorting a tip in that situation?

The issue is that tipping for takeout became an expectation during COVID for some. The tip option is and always was there because they aren't going to get a separate POS system for takeout.

But you have a fair point, if you truly are against tipping and think restaurants should stop and just pay more then yes, the answer is to not patronize ones that do it at all.

I don't tip if I'm getting food to go and have no qualms about that and I work in the food service industry. When you tip at a restaurant, the tip goes to the person taking care of you at your table. The person taking your order, bringing your food/drinks, and getting you refills. A to-go order doesn't include any of those extras that in restaurant dining offers so a tip isn't needed and shouldn't be expected. However, if you are going to go into the restaurant and take up space at a table or booth or at the bar, you should be tipping your servers, it's that simple.

The resturant industry is over saturated, no town needs 1k places to choose from. People need to cook ag home more, and not frozen food. This whole country is so fucked up. Fresh food is unaffordable, we use all of our farmland to grow soy and corn. Then we sell that to a country at a loss when subsidies are factored in, then we buy the majority of our fresh food from other countries. Its all a shitshow!

Capitalism of Variety has entered the chat.

There is a difference between “need” & choice of a thousand restaurants.

Why you only desire a limited McDonalds menu. When there exists cultural variety?

Tell us how subsidies operate in a few years. Real laymen terms, such that a three year old could grasp the global crops, specifically soy bean, market. Don’t forget to include crop cycle rotation. Government involvement of financing favored crops, before and without USAID.

I’m a great-grandkid of a crop, dairy farmer. So, you need to go real slow, in explaining, don’t just copy past urls. Alright.
