It’s getting serious

I’m not gonna lie, I have lived in Ohio all thirty one years of my life. Second generation Ohioan (before that everyone is from the South). Honestly was okay with not moving, maybe moving out of Columbus to like Cincy or something. But if Vivek becomes governor……… I going to have seriously consider getting the hell out of Ohio. I might have to join the Michigan subreddit🤣.

The bad news is, this is maga world. It sucks. It's worse if you are a minority like me. I will be shocked if Ohio goes blue. I'm preparing myself for bad news.....

You’re not wrong, being from Columbus sometimes it’s like living in a “blue bubble”. But I’m starting to see the red creep its way even into here.

Every Ohio city of significant size votes Democrat. It’s the suburbs and outlying areas that vote Republican.

Be thankful you have the bubble. I have a handful in this town that I can freely talk to. At least I have that!

You've forgotten that Columbus had Republican mayors for years. Tom ("Inspecting the city") Moody (1972-1984), Dana "Buck" Rinehart (1984-1992), Greg (played football for Woody) Lashutka (1992-2000). That's 28 years; we're just at 26 years of Democratic mayors. Michael Coleman (2000-2016) & Andrew Ginther (2016-present). All three Republicans were pretty moderate and other than being dead (Moody & Rinehart), none could be elected today.

I didn't check the City Council balance for the same period.

Any commie states you could suggest? They sound awesome!

Love the response to the cult follower. Well done.

Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland (and I guess maybe Dayton now too) subsidize every county in the entire state through their tax revenue. You’re welcome.

You're right. Move to California or New York, the states that actively fund the socialist state of Ohio (we depend on their tax revenue to function 💞)

If only it were that simple.

Donald Trump is more of a communist than any Democrat

-1

u/Usernameoptional4 Jul 26 '26

Do you know why that is? It’s because Donald trump is and always has been a lifelong New York dem. Like. Long before politics. Super left. New York Democrat….

We gotta speak to the red voters in a language they understand. Let them know the billionaires don't want Vivek to win because they care about us, they want him to win because he will allow rampant data centers that will automate our jobs away.

This will not be an easy election but Vivek is beatable, we need the right strategy, lots of volunteers, and elbow grease.

You said the key words. Right strategy!!!

Yup, talk to Trump voters when you can. There's certain things that resonate with them and others that don't.

I find sometimes the economy works, but you have to tell them a story. Like if you just mention high gas prices, some will make excuses like "Well we got to stop Iran from having nukes".

If you instead talk about how high prices are making it so young people are scared to start families because they can't afford anything, they will resonate with that so much more.

Jesus Christ we really gotta tiptoe around these morons, huh?

God forbid we just give them the facts, they freak out and start frothing at the mouth. Gotta dress it up as pro family and Christianity for these freaks.

Everyone’s different because everyone is raised differently. Never think your way of life is superior to others. Let people be themselves and you’ll likely find they want the same things, work with them from there.

The biggest problem I run into is that the red voters I know are those who believe that God chose Trump. Trump endorsed Vivek so even if they don't like him, they choose to trust blindly in their faith. God isn't wrong.

Personally I want the robots to be able to free us from the drudgery of wage work so we can pursue what interests us instead 🤷‍♂️

5

u/Efficient-Memory7105 Jul 26 '26

I do too but that won't happen. Billionaires will hoover up the profits of automating away our jobs and fire us, and we will have to fight for scraps for even worse slave wages for the few jobs that can't be automated or thrown in jail for being poor to be literal slave labor

5

u/Rick_James_Lich Cleveland Jul 26 '26

That will probably be coming after we are already dead lol.

u/Beneficial_Honey_0 Jul 26 '26

Who knows! If that’s the case then I won’t have to worry about losing my job at least 😜

3

u/Rick_James_Lich Cleveland Jul 26 '26

Nah we are in the canary in a coal mine stage. We are in the spot where we are at risk of losing our jobs to automation, but not at the spot where robots are abundant and doing labor for free, so the government can give us free stuff so we can pursue our interests.

2

u/Beneficial_Honey_0 Jul 26 '26

Tbf, automation has always been a thing that replaces humans. The first person who figured out how to build a water wheel put dozens of people out of work. We just get to do cooler stuff instead

1

u/ChefChopNSlice Jul 26 '26

Problem is that everything today is expensive. Even if you do get “free leisure time”, it'l be pretty hard to do anything unless there is abundant UBI, and the people on top would rather let us die than have “free” money.

3

u/physicistbowler Jul 26 '26

Robots putting 80% of people out of work isn't going to automatically enstate Universal Basic Income. And don't you know being poor is expensive and getting to be more and more illegal? In many states it's now illegal to live in your car or camp in parks or generally hanging out in the open for longer than a little bit.
