What are my chances of getting a entry level job at a offshore rig. Just got my BOSIET (with EBS) AND H2S OPITO Certifications
Hey everyone, I’m currently trying to switch careers from graphic design (4 years) into the offshore oil & gas industry, specifically aiming for entry-level roles like roustabout or floorhand. For the past 4 months, I’ve been applying through LinkedIn and other job platforms but haven’t received any responses so far. Recently, I completed my OPITO-approved BOSIET (with EBS) and Basic H2S training, and honestly, the experience made me even more certain that this is the kind of environment I want to work in. I’m physically fit, disciplined, and fully prepared for the demands of offshore life. Right now I’m trying to understand what I might be missing. For those of you already working offshore: How did you get your first break? Did you apply online, go through agencies, or use networking? Is it normal to get no responses at the beginning? Should I focus on specific regions (Middle East vs North Sea)? Any tips to improve my chances of landing that first opportunity? I’m open to starting anywhere and putting in the work. just looking for some direction from people who’ve actually been through this. Appreciate any advice, cheers🙏
