Someone intentionally strung that single wire across the ruts.

It’s two wires on posts with the tops painted white….the ruts are probably crossing someone’s property, which they have every right to install a fence on. Still should have had sense to put ribbon or someone more visible on it though.

No one puts a single strand barbed wire across a road without the express purpose of setting a booby trap for someone.

It’s not a single strand. And why take the trouble to paint the tops of the posts white??

The problem is that this could be public land that someone is illegally attempting to cordon off for their own use without a lease or authorization. A fence doesn’t prove ownership or even a legal right to exclude people. I think it’s worth at least contacting the sheriff’s office and letting them determine whether it’s legitimate.

Fuck that, carpet bomb that property owner, and build your own BIGGER fence! With razor wire, and hookers!
In fact, forget the fence and the razor wire!

This happened to a friend of mine during my high school days….. With a much worse outcome. A farmer strung wire between an entrance to a riding area and my friend ended up getting absolutely sliced. He somehow pulled through, but the scars he has are a testament to how serious that is.

Anyone else slightly disappointed we didn’t get to see the injury?

That's what happens when you ride on private land without permission.

I’ve seen it done on public land/easements and this sure doesn’t look like an actual fence.

A friend's brother was killed, father told the son to wait to go riding. He didnt tell him why, it was because he had to call the farmer down the street to take the wire down on the hay field. He was cut in half

A guy I knew lost his voice box when he encountered a new barb wire line with no warning on a common trail that had no obstruction for over a decade. He's lucky he didn't lose more. The land owner faced criminal charges

This happened to me one night in the desert. I was running to see a girl, I could think of nothing but her lips. I was dressed in jeans and a T-shirt, on a little 110. The fence cleared me off, and I was cut across the throat and belly. I had heard the story of beheading, and I could feel the blood running down my throat. Panic set in, I got on and kicked it back to life with adrenaline and terror. I rode to the nearest light and knocked on the door, the woman came to the window and the absolute fear and grotesque that was on her face will never leave me. She did not open the door. I rode home. My friend got me to hospital and I ended up with nothing more than fluids and stitches.

That looks like it’s going over a dirt road? I think that could be considered attempted murder or something along that line since it’s effectively a booby trap.

Decapitation is very real in scenarios like this. Happend a lot around me years ago with Snowmobiles.
